Did the Equinox crew go to jail?

I cant imagine that Janeway would ever have seen this crew as expendable and put them into harm's way deliberately. That's just not the Starfleet way. They will be sent to a penal colony on Earth much as Tom Paris was in "Caretaker."

Dude. Haven't you been watching? The Starfleet way is sacrifice. For a good cause, to save the innocent to protect the greater good, the ship and every one on it including herself is completely expendable to the "mission".

But it's the skipper's privilege, indeed duty, to sacrifice her or his crew when needed. No military requires an officer to commit suicide when the situation calls for sending some of the men under his command to certain death. Feeling bad about it is optional.
