Wholly apart from that, I do tell you they just updated the consoles. After all, that's what they did. In reality. Which could just as well be the in-universe reality.

Assuming I haven't missed something or gotten confused, they did mroe than just change some consoles on the D Bridge.
New carpet colors, new side paneling designs for those [in-verse] unexplained panels on the left and right side of the Bridge, the paneling behind Picard was changed (and re-shaped to be cured outward), some paints jobs were changed, some Ops stations behind Worf were re-named, lights were added to the arm rests on the captain's chair (and the chair was modified a tiny bit), the wall cusioning in the turbolift recesses were smoothed out horizontially, new computer panels were added to the left and right sides (previously just painted wall) of the whole Ops area behind Worf, and those two additional back-less chairs to the sides of Troi and Riker went bye-bye.
Others far more knowledgable can point out more.
Aside from the technical manual, the idea of swaping Bridges for a diofferent design alltogether because the captain apparently has nothing better to do than please himself, just seems like a ridiculous idea.
For starters you know swaping one out means the ship will have to arranged it, so any diplomatic or peqaceful missions will have to be put on hold while the ship goes to what ever Starbase or place that Bridge modules are stored at (or at least the one the capain wants), then it seems entirely logical (based on passed things) that it will have to be installed by Starfleet engineers, tested, the captains' Ready Room stocked back up with the captain's personal items from the old Bridge module, and any captain-specific modifications will them commence.
It takes a ship pointlessly out of service to satisfy the asthetical whims of a captain who has obviously far too much time on his hands.
And secondly, unviersal Bridge designs for each class ship, just make good sense. You know what your'e getting and you know where so-and-so is when looking for something.
