Did Joss ever talk about BUFFY post-S7?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
i've only heard a couple things, and even, they've just been simple things like how Adam was his least favorite Big Bad.

has he said much else? i know he talked a little on the DVD's, but anything in written form i could check out online?

thanks

Joss has talked about Buffy post-S7, but mostly in the context of the Season Eight comic book series that he's using to continue Buffy. (S8 just finished, I believe, and plans for an S9 are in the works.) Those interviews will also tend to have large spoilers for the comic books, so if you plan on reading them, you'd probably want to skip the interviews. He talks a lot about the differences that using the comic book medium provides and the directions he's gone with the characters; I'm not sure how much of his commentary is a retrospective on the TV series, except for how it pertains to the comic.

If you are interested in reading the comic-centric interviews, you can find them through Google, or probably through perusing the Buffy comic thread that's around here somewhere.

He's not really given any Buffy introspective interviews about the series since it is ended which I think is what the original poster was meaning. Nothing like aborted plans or regrets or anything like that. Joss doesn't seem to be that type of writer.

It's not exactly what you're looking for but you can find the entirety of the Buffy PaleyFest panel on YouTube. It has Joss, David Greenwalt, Marti Noxon, and most of the cast reminiscing about Buffy. The first part is available here.

Like others have said, there are lots of Joss interviews where he talks about Buffy, but in most of those from the last few years he's also talking about season 8, so if you're not reading the comics, you might wanna skip them because of the spoilers.

Here's one interview/article from the last year that doesn't mention the comics - he says some things about Buffy the character being his avatar ("Buffy was me"). http://pmnewton.blogspot.com/2010/08/joss-whedon-and-writing-from-dark-place.html

And this is just a part-transcript from a DVD interview - I wish I could read or hear the entire interview, but people on this LJ just quoted the part where he talks about Spike and why he likes the character.

^ Why did you repost the link when it is already in the thread?

didn't see it.

He blames Fox for firing him, and hiring new writers to completely rewrite his movie without askign him...

Or soemthing. Just blame Fox, it's the easy cool (and correct) thing to do. :)

wait, so he didnt actually write the movie?

Yes, he wrote the movie. Yes, it was altered against his wishes to become what it was. He hated Donald Sutherland as a pompous "ass". He didn't blame Fox. He was disappointed that the people who had creative control over the movie didn't really get his vision for the movie and thus he set out to show the world what he intended with the series.
