Did Ezri violate the Trill Taboo?

As has been said, Ezri violated the Trill taboo by sleeping with Worf

Does it apply when one of the partners is not a Trill, as in this case?

Odan didn't seem to have a problem picking up where he left off with Dr. Crusher while in Riker's body. Then when the new host came along, she still wanted to have a relationship w/ Crusher - no mention of a taboo. (Of course, TNG Trill are nothing like DS9 Trill, so we might just pretend that The Host either didn't exist or dealt with another Trill species.)

I'd be willing to bet that the Symbiosis Commission have some provisions about non-Trill relations. The Trill understand the problems of past lives of the joined members of their society. There's a bit more difficulty for off worlders. And Ezri was already a special case in the first place, since she hadn't intended to be joined, so the whole situation was already sticky.

And clearly, the two of the fudged the reports in the first place. Let's face it, would you really WANT to include the whole matter on the official report?

I kind of wonder just how unique Erzi's situation really was, when Oden's host died, Kareel was aboard the Enterprise in a little over a day and a half. Kareel might have been in the same situation as Erzi, a Trill symbiot needed a host or it would die, Kareel was the only Trill who was nearby. Like Erzi, Kareel might have been a untrained, unselected and unwilling host.

Now it's possible that Trill and Peliar Zel were in adjacent star systems, but I got the impression that Kareel was simply the closest possible host.

:)

Did we actually see any pregnant Trill? I think we didn't. So maybe they don't carry their babies in their tummies. The Ocampas don't so maybe the Trills don't too.

What makes you say the Ocampa don't. All we know is that the baby comes out of the lower back. That means the baby developed in the same place as Human babies do, just with a different exit path.

Don't remind me of that god-awful episode. Ocampan conception and pregnancy is about as scientifically plausible as "Threshold"

Day and a half? It sure felt longer. I read somewhere that the average episode of TNG lasted 2 weeks.

Anyway, I'd say at the end of the day, Ezri was too untrained and young and her relationship with Bashir was at best a grey area. And Worf and Ezri probably didn't mention all the sex in their official report.

Did she break a taboo? Probably. But, as another example, for all Worf's talk of following Klingon tradition, he certainly comes off as positively progressive in action. It's a taboo, not a law.

^ indeed. the evil mods locked the old one.

we've had a thread about sisko's bald head, about ezri's breasts, about worfs penis... whats next? we need to find something quick!

I'm gonna hate myself for suggesting this... Kira's ridges?

^Ezri's spots!

Okay...seriously. As for Ezri's views on the taboo...I don't think she'd intended to get "involved" with Worf at all...but in the heat of the moment, the two snapped, and threw themselves at each other.

I think when Ezri shrugged if off, she was just trying to help Worf absolve himself of noticable guilt. After all...no one witnessed the incidnet.

Now--of course, Ezri noticably reflected on the whole thing in "Till Death...", after Worf claimed that "You and I will have many years together."

She's certainly known for a great deal of self-reflection--at times, almost to the point of "navel-gazing", for lack of a better term--

(ADD/AS moment: Do Trills even have navels...?)

--so I would say she, at least, would understand the implications of openly violating the taboo, and take them very seriously.

Definitely! anything that involves that cutie. :techman:
(Oh, and yeah. I do find the spots incredibly sexy.)

Nah, I dont think she cares. They're afraid of punishing her anyway. She can do whatever she wants.

:lol::techman:

I actually did one of my own once--a kind of "Ezri as Jack (Jackie?) Bauer":

But anyway--I'd say you may have a point.

Picard calls Worf a coward--and Worf says, "If you were any other man, I would KILL you where you stand!"

Ezri call Worf a coward--and Work ends up kissing her.

Worf fears Ezri Dax.

Thats something that I've always wondered about... What if Sisko had called Worf a coward?

Worf would have challenged him in a battle to the death and Worf would have died instantly from the infamous 'Sisko stare'
or he would have been blinded by the lens flare reflecting from Sikos head.
