Did David Marcus ever meet Jim Kirk before TWOK?

Harvey, as I am endlessly fascinated by this subject, I feel compelled to ask a couple more questions.....

First does the B & W rough cut you saw contain opening credits of any kind or just start with the simulator scene and ..............

Secondly where exactly does this version end? After they recue Kirk and co., during the final battle of just before Spock makes his sacrifice?

No credits. Almost no music, too, except a few instances of temp score taken from who knows where over the stock drydock and Enterprise launching sequences.

I always got the impression that Kirk knew of David's existence and had probably been around in his early months. But when him and Carol ended it she told him to stay away and Kirk's commitment to Starfleet made the decision for him.

I think like most things he just buried his feelings and the knowledge he had a son throughout his first command, it was kind of secretive in some ways too.
