Did anyone get a Windows 10 invite?

My PC is about 6 years old, but I'll be switching over to 64 bit with Windows 10. I only have 3 GB of RAM, but I do have an AMD Athlon 64 X2. My motherboard only supports 4 GB of RAM max, so if I really want to take advantage, I'll have to upgrade the CPU, RAM, and Motherboard. Yay.

Still, I plan on doing a fresh install of Windows 10 64 bit.

If anyone wants to kill the nag, the procedure appears to be to go into Control Panel, then Programs, then View Installed Updates, and uninstall KB3035583. It seems to be the culprit.
Is that a serious question? Windows has been available in 64-bit flavors since XP. They're apparently releasing a 32-bit version of Windows 10, but I can't imagine why anyone would bother in 2015.
1. It is largely built on Windows 8.1 - some in the industry are asking why it isn't just 8.2 - and there's a 32bit version of it, so there's very low cost for Microsoft to have a 32bit version of 10.
2. Given 1, keeping a 32bit version will help with some proprietary software compatibility, which may sell more copies of 10.

The industry is moving away from 32bit and with 4GB becoming the norm and that 90% of the processors sold over the past few years are 64bit, MS have simply decided to draw the line in the sand.

Same as they did with the server version. Server 2008 was the last version to be available as 32bit.

And no 32bit isn't low cost for Microsoft - they have two versions to maintain, two versions to patch. Much simpler to say this far and no further.

If you want, you can just download the beta. Otherwise, I doubt such a tweak would work, since the retail version is likely getting a final polish, and isn't even on the download servers yet.

Explains why nothing happened... I do not know why they published that tweak.
I think I will be patient and wait for the proper release I don't like betas.

I'm betaphobic :D

I am usually beta phobic, but when I first heard they were going to let people play with Windows 10 as a beta, I had to join in, and it was worth it. Even in the earliest beta stages we got to play with, the OS was running smoothly, and was stable. I had no problems installing it, finding drivers, or using the available (at the time) features.

How does installation go? What if you can't find your windows key?

You can find your current windows key using this program: https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

That said, I have never had an upgrade ask for my key. The software detects if it's a genuine Windows copy, and then installs. The only key you'll need is the one Microsoft gives you when you download your Windows 10 image.

Ah so I won't need the Windows 7 key, cool because for the short time I had Windows 8 all I needed was that key...

When I changed back to Win 7 however I did need my key. I'm thinking what happens if I change back?

I've heard that Win10 is going to be subscription-based. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

A subscription-based OS sounds like the worst computing idea I've heard of since Microsoft Bob.

It's not a subscription.

Yea! That's good to hear. If it would have been, I'd be without a computer .

Sounds like a good time to upgrade to 7, always stay 1/2 versions behind ;)

Windows 7 is stable and cool.

Word. And it has access to the older games! I don't want to give it up.

Is there any way outside of having access to a disc to be able to save the games so I can use them in Windows 10?

I have NO interest in having WildTangent games on my laptop. I had to remove ALL of the games on my mom's Windows 8 laptop due to that stupid piece of mal ware. I'd love to be able to play some games in some way.

I am going to wait and see how Win10 works with everyone before deciding to upgrade my Win7 machine. Win7 does everything I want so far and I am comfortable with it. You are supposed to have a year to choose to upgrade or not, plenty of time to see if the OS brings something worthwhile to the table.

Win8 was the 'New Coke' of operating systems (for those of you who remember what the New Coke debacle was all about). Microsoft was determined to force everyone to use it by any means and people resisted. Companies who really wanted to sell computers would give you Win7 as an option. Since the same company that touted how perfect Win8 was is now telling everyone how perfect Win10 is, I am going to wait and see...

Windows 8 should have been what Windows 10 is now. I realize plenty of folks like Windows 8, and that's cool, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
