The comic adaptation gives these names:

Fugeman - Regula One
Gerace - Farragut
McCoy - Enterprise
McGrath - Wolcott
Rader - USS Hood
Uhura - Farragut
Petrovsky - Antares.

Radar!!!!! A MASH reference!

It isn’t Radar, it’s Rader. Either a reference to Dennis Rader, a serial killer who claimed ten victims, the same number of TOS characters Abrams “killed” by depicting them in a way completely unlike the TOS versions; or to the Rader family of the short-lived TV series Runaway, who live in the small farming town of Bridgewater, Iowa, which could be Jim Kirk’s hometown.

No, no, no. It's a reference to Cylon raiders (misspelled, due to a typo, of course), thus signaling Abrams' intention to recast Trek as a dark-and-gritty drama a la nuBSG. Didn't you get the memo?

No, no, no. It’s because Abrams is turning Kirk into Indiana Jones. Chekov can be Short Round. And no David Marcus in this timeline; Kirk will discover that he has an illegitimate son and he’s none other than Keenser.

Scraping the nacelle on debris over Vulcan just has to be a Galaxy Quest reference!
I'll bet there are lots of references that we missed the first 5 or 6 viewings. We need more research! I swear I heard them say, Mickey Mouse was assigned to the USS Clubhouse.

Which references have you heard while watching ST09 lately?

I loved the references to SW, they certainly didn't bother me in the least. My favorite was the huge chasms in the Narada for Kirk to fall into and lose his phaser in.

It's just another anti Abrams rant. I don't think he knows how to post anything else.

Nope. I don't. Apparently.
We've all noticed.

Do we have to?

Come on mod, he's trolling for trouble and doesn't get one warning?

Kudos to the OP for not getting hooked.

Those are pretty tame to what Zim and the others have called fans. I consider Zim to be trolling every time he comes into a thread and derails it to an Anti-Star Trek rant.

And when the Enterprise-D dropped out of warp into the Wolf 359 debris field in "BoBW," was that a Star Wars reference too?

Ummm. No. They knew there was a debris field there. The Enterprise-D actually had sensors that worked.

In the case of Vulcan/Alderaan, they had no idea they were going to drop out of warp in a debris field, as Han had no idea he was dropping out of hyperspace into and asteroid field.

Um, yeah. In both BOBW and XI, had the Enterprise met with the fleet for the big battle as was planned, the ship would have been destroyed. Later on, the only ship that survived due to being late would end up destroying the far-more-powerful ship. This was an intentional reference to BOBW by the writers.
