Did anyone else notice this? Vader in STXI

Everybody knows I'm not a big fan of the Abramsverse. But STXI was on EPIX1 the other day and my wife wanted to watch it again. So I sat through it with her. And I noticed something new that I had missed the last couple of viewings. In the scene in the shuttle hangar after Kirk's hearing for cheating, the officer handing out assignments says "Vader, USS Hood". I think it was Hood, anyway. But it was interesting that they used the name "Vader". And it was actually my wife who noticed this and I had to rewind it to make sure we were hearing it right. We both listened intently and agreed that he did indeed say "Vader". So, not only is R2D2 floating around in the wreckage at Vulcan, but Darth Vader is apparently a Starfleet cadet. Just add that to all the other Star Wars references in the movie I suppose.

Yeah. I know it's trivial. But I thought it was interesting. And I had not seen it mentioned anywhere else. So I figured, what the heck, I'll post it.

I swear it sounded like "Vader". We listened to it several times and it sounded like Vader to both of us. Could have been "Bader". Can't say for 100% sure.

I thought it was "Bader," perhaps a nod to the late Hilary J. Bader who was a writer on TNG (and did some excellent work on The New Batman/Superman Adventures). Although Chakoteya's transcript site renders it "Vader."
The script at the Internet Movie Script Database has neither "Vader" nor any name which could easily be mistaken for it in the roll-call scene.

Another transcript which appeared online at some point after the movie's release and well before the DVD release (possibly taken from English subtitles on a non-English-language copy of the film) had the name "Spader" called out in that scene.

Regardless of what the script actually had, I've said before that I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that "Vader" what what someone wanted you to think you'd heard. ("Oh, you heard 'Vader'? Ha ha, that would be pretty funny, wouldn't it? In a Star Trek movie, I mean, 'cause you know he's, like, Star Wars, right... but it isn't that - nono, really, it's not.")

You're right, everybody knows this. But feel free to bring it up yet again.

...but Darth Vader is apparently a Starfleet cadet.

And you came to this conclusion because you thought you heard the name "Vader?" How do you know it wasn't Steve Vader from Saskatchewan? Did you see some guy in a black rubber outfit wielding a light saber? (BTW, I just watched the scene again, and I heard "Rader.")

And I had not seen it mentioned anywhere else. So I figured, what the heck, I'll post it.

Guess you didn't look hard enough. There was all kinds of talk about this and other SW references on here when the movie premiered.

I always thought it sounded like Vader. I watched it again yesterday and i still think it sounds like Vader even though the closed caption says otherwise.
