Captain Proton? I mean, I like the idea as a one-shot, but I was never a fan of many of the eps with CP. I appreciate the idea of spoofing vintage, low budget sci-fi. But the program never seemed that amusing to me, just dull.

Agreed. Once is enough for it. And I liked Voyager too, but all thast stuff seemed hokey.

I did like the way Harry drew his "laser pistol" in one of the episodes. He was kind of leaning to one side then with a 'flick' of his body he leaned the to the other side while drawing and firing the weapon. It just looked cool, and I remember pissing off my girlfriend at the time because I would go all around the apartment sneaking up on her and drawing and firing a water gun at her in the same manner. She never really liked Star Trek for some reason.

Honestly, I feel the same way every time they make a Trek PC game or game for a home system.

Trek maybe an interesting show but it makes for some dull ass game play.

At least CP had a regular main villian and wasn't afraid to actually use his weapon.

I loved Captain Proton. I'm sorry we didn't see more of it. Although, to be fair, I'm not sure what more they could have done with the premise after the hilarious "Bride of Chaotica!".

I liked Captain Proton more than Tom's Fair Haven program, which still ain't sayin' much, if ya think about it.

Captain Proton was pretty good IMO, a much more servicable concept than Fair Haven (which I was very indifferent too).

CP >>>>> FH.

On the prior front, I thought that the Jane Austen holonovel was once enough. I did not like Sandrine's much at all, once was enough IMO. Loved the tropical resort simulation though!

"Bride of Chaotica!" is one of the better uses of the program. I still wouldn't consider it a great ep, but it is a decent use of CP.

Yeah, I liked the idea of Captain Proton..however, the whole season of it was just getting old too fast.

Absolutely loved it. Every time. "Bride of Chaotica!" was a great episode too. My favourite holodeck VOY program... which isn't saying much, admittedly.

I thought it was a great idea that thankfully didn't get overdone like the borg or time travel. Besides, "Bride of Chaotica" is one of my favorite episodes.

I agree. Overall, I like VOY, and I generally don't mind campiness (Hey, I was an avid Dr. Who fan during the 80's :)), but the CP episodes generate an immediate channel change from my remote. To me, they just seem like a bad case of writer's block inflicted on the viewer.

I liked Captain Proton, and "Bride of Chaotica!" was a great episode. It was overused in Season 5, though. It was nice to see the program in "Shattered", and that's how it should have been - popping up once or twice a season.

I didn't dislike it as much as 'Fair Haven' (urgh) but it did wear after a while... but 'Bride of Chaotica' was fun.

:rommie:

I've not seen a single Captain Proton episode, but as a fan of the old Flash Gordon serials and their ilk, I imagine that I'd like the episodes quite a bit. :)

I didn't have a problem with it. I am, after all a fan of those old serials myself.

The briefing room scene in Bride of Chaotica is one of the best Voyager ever did.

I like how Paris was influenced by his Captain Proton holos while designing the Delta Flyer, eschewing the usual touchscreens for more responsive tactile controls. Good touch.
