Devil Worship in Haiti

Gotta point out to Mr. Robertson... pacts with the Devil usually have a better benefit. Hasn't he heard the legend of the Devil's Trill or read the story, "The Devil and Daniel Webster?"
Assuming for the moment that the devil is real (he isn't), you can't actually make a deal with him.

Pat Robertson is a loon, I recognize this. But I think I will still continue to watch The 700 Club (sorry to disappoint y'all  ). His son's a better host than he is anyway. And Gordon's not a loon.
Why am I not surprised you watch that show..

It's sad that such a loon triggers so much indirect attention. I think people like this, who give all Christians a bad name, should be ignored until they go away. They thrive on attention, after all.

Maybe you should email this to Pat and not to me? I just based my comments on his stated beliefs. It would NOT be stupid for him to say it, if, according to his beliefs, it was the case.

It's stupid to say it no matter what. Robertson's brand of Christianity is backwards, bigoted, arrogant, and spiteful, and the proper response for anyone - Christian or not - is to condemn what he said in the harshest language and without equivocation. You instead chose to be vague and wishy-washy about it and then backpedal when called on it.

The fact is, I was expecting precisely that kind of response from you when I first saw the topic, and as usual you didn't disappoint. If it's something you actually do disapprove of then I would suggest defying our expectations a bit and coming right out and saying how wrong Robertson is.
On the other hand, a pact with the devil DOES explain much about the New York Yankees... :shifty:

People like Pat Robertson are immensely embarrassing to me as a Christian.

The only agenda such disasters should bring to our minds as Christians is this: compassion towards our neighbors. These things should remind us that the only way we will get through things like this is to serve each other in kindness. We should be putting ourselves in a position to help, not to hurt and belittle those who are in need. Those who make comments like Robertson should take a very, very close look at themselves.

If there is anyone wishing to help, this is one example. Here is a ministry that my church has been supporting to build homes for children orphaned in Haiti. They have been hit by hurricanes and now the earthquake, and I am sure with the devastation there will be much, much more need for them in the days to come:

The Hands and Feet Project is named for the idea that we are to act as the hands and feet of Jesus in this world, to do His service.

And I think SOME of those who try to claim Christ's name need to pay attention to that, and NOT to trying--and VERY badly--to be the mouth.

There are other causes that will help in Haiti, I am sure. This is one example.

Holy shit! A christian that is actually following the teachings of Christ! Will wonders never cease?

Good for you, Nerys. From an athiest to a real christian - keep up the good work.
