details on Singer's Trek pitch

Something the last few years of poor tv has made me realize is that even weak Trek is better than 95% of anything else. So I'm ready for a new weekly Trek series. I miss having new episodes and I like this pitch--going to the future, makin space unknown and scary, changing up the dynamics of familiar races and opening up the opportunity to introduce new threats.
I had high hopes for Abrams Trek but that film was not very good--all flash and fast pacing, no characterization or substance not even much of a plot. So I'd prefer he keeps his hands off the next series.

This is just my personal opinion but a new series needs to be about the exploration of humanity and space exploration is the back drop...nothing convoluted. Just Peeps on a ship exploring! 
I'm a fan of Bryan Singer but this just seems like the sort of generic pitch that fans post on this forum every day of the week. Yawn. I suppose maybe the execution may have been special but I don't feel we've missed out on anything.
To be fair to Singer, this was not his pitch. This is what a random fan remembers being told by another fan about Singer's pitch.
I'd like to see Bryan's official pitch similar to how JMS and Bryce Zybel released their reboot pitch online.
I'll be interested to see tomorrow's follow-up with excerpts.

So the far future of the 31st Century and a decendant of Kirk to go with it, huh? Jesus, we dodged a bullet there. Talk about trying to have your cake and eat it.
For heaven's sake, just set Star Trek Federation in the 22nd Century, show how it all came into being. Aim for an Enterprise do-over with more of the writing talent behind DS9 or at least that style. Political scheming and eventually outright war with the Romulans, followed by the Birth of the Federation in the aftermath. Pretty much one of my favourite ever years of Star Trek, Season 4 of ENT taken to its logical conclusion please... with the added incentive of us actually getting to see the dots being joined to TOS, whether Classic, Abramsverse or both.

I've seen the pitch. I am saying I want to see that pitch used as the basis for the next Trek series. But, thanks very much Mr. Internet, not sure how I've gotten thorugh life without you.
JMS's pitch would have basically been Star Trek: The Search for Vorlons. I don't think it would have been a bad thing. I think JMS' Star Trek would have been really good, basically the serialization of B5 wrap up in the familiarity of Star Trek.
I felt that elements of Crusade would've ended up in JMS's version of Trek. But looking back on JMS's work since B5 and even his magnum opus, I find myself not really appreciating his writing as I once did and can see a great deal many faults in it.
I have to admit, that sounded more interesting than initially appeared. Still happier with the JJ Abrams reboot, though.
The problem with all of these pitches is that they're about the arcs and the politics of the galaxy, not about compelling characters and what drives them to get involved in these adventures. I don't flipping care what century it is, give me a compelling format and interesting characters.
^^^ That's exactly what I think. It's like those threads where people say that their Trek idea will be so much better than VOY and ENT because it's set in the 25th century and ships use transwarp technology, not warp drive. It really doesn't make a difference. Good writing and acting does.

The isolated and autonomous starships hearken back to the original series-- strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, boldly going and so forth-- which has been needed for a long time. It's in the original timeline, which is good-- Abrams' Retardverse is best forgotten (but it made a bazillion bucks, so it won't be). It's set post TNG Era-- 30th Century is probably overdoing it, but whatever. I like the idea of Reunification in progress, because it presents the possibility of conflict more subtle than spaceships shooting at each other.
