I don't get that at all. Sure, Mara got the drop on Luke in Heir, but then she had to appeal for his help in DFR. Likewise, when Kaarde tries to keep Han and Lando in the dark on Myrkr, they snoop around and get the better of him. Zahn's added characters are perfectly matched against the regulars. Can't say I'm a big fan of Heir, but to each their own. I think Zahn plays up Jade and Thrawn a little bit too much, making them look good at the expense of the OT characters (especially Jade).
Try "Secret History of Star Wars PDF" in Google. There's an unofficial book out there called The Secret History of Star Wars which goes into great detail about the myth that George Lucas had planned out the entire saga, and basically points out all the holes (and there are many) in any claims to that effect. It's well worth a read (if you can find a copy), though it does tend to ramble here and there, and could have used some editing.
The first edition was a freebie download; it's been mirrored on dozens of sites and never removed.
The new 'footnotes' revealed on facebook haven't been anything interesting (imho) or even unknown...I was hoping for more/better behind-the-scenes info.
^ Not heard of it before? I've practically been singing it's praises in most of the Star Wars threads here lol. J/K. It is a fascinating book and must read for fans of the saga.
Read the description more closely - that's a special audiobook that's mostly commentary, with excerpts from the full audiobook regarding text being "footnoted".The audiobook sounds like it might be more interesting to get rather than the actual novel. It is read by Tim Zahn himself along with his editor on the book Betsy Mitchell. It is the full novel recorded (not abridged) along with Zahn's commentary.
As a fan of the books, Zahn's work especially, I enjoyed the annotations. I liked learning about "what might have been" and reading about the genesis of the book.I saw the book in Barnes & Noble on Saturday. I didn't buy it, as I'm getting it at work on Wednesday.
Anyone pick this up yet? Thoughts?
I think it would have to be the Thrawn trilogy or the other three; if you mix in all 6, that's only 3-4 levels per book/game, which doesn't seem like enough.I still have the mad dream that the next LEGO Star Wars game should be an Expanded Universe game, with levels based on the Thrawn trilogy. And Shadows of the Empire and Force Unleashed (since there's a LEGO set based on it already), and perhaps even KOTOR.
