Destiny Trilogy.

I'm 3/4 of the way through the first book. David Mack is setting up this conflict beautifully. This is shaping up to be a great series. Don't know why I did not take notice when it was initially released.

This would be the ideal ending to 24th & 22nd century Trek. I wish they would consider making this a mini-series and give those series a proper send off.

^ Kind of you to say. I hope the rest of the trilogy continues to live up to (or exceed) your expectations. :)

Definitely come back and share your thoughts after you've read each book. I'm always really interested in how people react to the last one.

Totally my favorite Trek books, hands down. :)

They were so good, I hardly put them down. I was sad when I was done. But not in a bad way.

I've re-read them several times since picking them up. They are, for me at least, the best treklit out there and David Mack is my favorite/the best author to come along for it.

I found 'em in my closet the other day and intend to re-read them for the first time soon. I remember loving the ride, and reading them back to back instead of with month-long gaps in between should make for a better experience, a la watching Lost on DVD. :D

I love the Destiny trilogy :D. Probably my favorite treklit crossover ever done. You see the Enterprise, the Titan, Ezri Dax's Aventine, the Excalibur from PAD's New Frontier, a few glimpses of Voyager, not to mention Seven at the Palais, some SCE personnel, President Bacco and her support staff, key members of the admiralty that were explored in all the 24th century treklit series. Top all this off with the many worlds of the federation we see, plus Grand Nagus Rom, Ambassador Garak, and a whole chunk of the story focusing on a crew from the 22nd century :techman:. Crazy stuff. I've actually used it to get a few friends into treklit.

I didn't think we actually saw the Excaliber. I thought it was just a reference somewhere to something they did.

Yeah. I was only mentioned. Still counts though :techman:. I think they also mention Shelby, if i'm not mistaken.

I just checked MB, and it says she was in one of the Starfleet meeting featured in Mere Mortals. It also says that Mac tried to use the Excalibur as a projectile against and cube, and while that failed they did save a UFP colony.

Agreed -wholeheartedly :bolian:

It was THE Trek story i've waited all my Trek-reading years to experience

I just bought copies of all 3 books to pass around to friends who want to read the "best Trek has to offer", in their words

I can relate, although for me it was two dream books I would have written myself, given a chance. I was ready to read both way back in 1980, and it was a bizarre to read the authors touching all the necessary bases: "Andor: Paradigm" (in WoDS9) and "Ex Machina".

But yeah, despite all the sacrifice, death and destruction, the "Destiny" trilogy left one feeling fulfilled and optimistic for the ST universe.
