They should have said no one was on the ship for a million years, but that they have no clue how old the ship really is.
Sorry but there is a wealth of evidence to show the dialogue is wrong, all they have to say is the ship is using dumbed down and more rubost technology for long range use, which is perfectly fine, my problem is Rush keeps implying or outright stating its all older or a prototype.
Then again, theres no reason to trust a word Rush says...
Exactly. Why people seem so confused by this is absolutely astounding to me.Sorry but there is a wealth of evidence to show the dialogue is wrong, all they have to say is the ship is using dumbed down and more rubost technology for long range use, which is perfectly fine, my problem is Rush keeps implying or outright stating its all older or a prototype.

You could also assume the ship is older and a prototype, and the timeframe given is the mistake.

50 Million Years ago to about 10 or so Million Years ago - The Ancients' civilization in the Milky Way is in full swing, and they have replaced the earlier, limited range prototype Stargates (Destiny type) with the more familiar, galaxy-wide-range Milky Way gates. I would assume it's around this time that the alliance of the 4 great races comes into being. Towards the end of this time period, the great plague, unleashed perhaps by the Ori, has started to decimate the population of the Milky Way.
apparently with a few exceptions such as the Nox, etc).

Yet, in SG-1 5x22 Revelations they find an ancient asgard from 30 000 years ago!! How did they have an alliance millions of years earlier?
So the alliance Asgard were the more ancient ones? Either way, the alliance stuff isn't important when it comes to the Destiny timeline.50 Million Years ago to about 10 or so Million Years ago - The Ancients' civilization in the Milky Way is in full swing, and they have replaced the earlier, limited range prototype Stargates (Destiny type) with the more familiar, galaxy-wide-range Milky Way gates. I'm assuming this is in fact the case. But, in the fifth race, they say that the alliance fought the goauld. The goauld rose 10k years ago. So it's possible, that the alliance was AFTER they returned from atlantis, and there was only a few hundred ancients in this alliance, that would be quite enough to hold back the goauldBut than again, that would place Destiny back in the millions range (before leaving for Pegasus), so we're back with the problem.
Obviously this was a while ago, and there are some inconsistencies with what we know to be true in the actual show itself (the number ships sent out), but this is about as good as we have right now."The idea of Stargate Universe is that it is set on a ship that was part of an Ancient experiment that was set in motion probably millions of years ago -- one that they never saw to fruition, but that we can," Wright told GateWorld exclusively. "They got busy with the whole ascension thing." The experiment is "to send a ship across the universe, and to send one ahead of it to seed the galaxies with Stargates, and that they would one day use the ninth chevron to get there [to the ship]. And that's what Stargate Universe is." Millions of years ago (before their conflict with the Wraith and possibly even before they moved Atlantis to the Pegasus Galaxy), the show would reveal, the Ancients sent out two ships: an automated vessel to place Stargates throughout multiple galaxies in our universe, and a second ship to follow up and explore.
