Destiny - Let's Roll!

So today it is finally released to the public.

I was part of the PS4 Beta and unfortunately the Beta character was not carried over to the full game so i have to redo the first few missions again.

So far not much has changed or i didn't notice it.. it is still a very interesting SF shooter but i'm far too early in the game to comment on game design, story or anything else like this (and will probably not get much gaming time this week due to real life).

I am very excited to start exploring this game, to see where it goes and what is behind that damned walled of part of the Tower (the Tower is the community area where you can buy, sell and upgrade your stuff and meet others). It was walled off in the Beta and it's still off limits!! :scream::lol:

So if anyone else plays it on PS4 and would like to join in a TrekBBS Fireteam occasionally add me.. my username is (who'd have thought it) - FPAlpha.

See ya out there!

I'll be playing PS4 version as well - my username is also easy to guess ("CaptJimboJones"). Anyone who wants to team up is welcome to add me.

I'm getting it on XBONE, but it won't arrive until Thursday, unfortunately. I did play the Beta and was quite impressed so I'm really looking forward to it.

Sadly cancelled my pre-order :( the friend I was going to play it with can't get the XB1 bundle at the moment and I'd rather not play with strangers or solo. Got another friend who might get it when he gets XB1 for Fifa 15 but thats at least several weeks away.

Have fun ppl, I'll be late to the party.

I just got my copy today, and was part of the PS4 Beta test as well. I enjoyed the Beta enough to get the game. (And besides, it's Bungie giving the middle finger to Microsoft, so I was certainly game.) :) I am enjoying the full game, very much.

Now, before anyone starts accusing me of Xbox bashing, let it be known that I still have my 360, and I still love it....but that is the last support MS will be getting from me. After the Xbox One debacle, they can keep their machine. (And knowing that Bungie had gotten out from under the thumb of Microsoft to go multiplatform, this can only be sweet bliss for them.)

As far as had been reported, Microsoft was not permitted to advertise, nor bundle Destiny for their systems....at least, not for the time being.

I am martok2112 on PSN.

In UK I've seen many XB1 Destiny Bundles.

Hmmm....it would seem then that some reports were false.
But I do know that they were not allowed to advertise Destiny.
So they sorta got around it like this:

http://kotaku.com/bizarre-new-xbox-ad-says-theyre-not-allowed-to-advertis-1630959140

But, I think it's a nice slap in the face to Xbox, since Xbox has taken so many multiplatform games, and managed to advertise them as if they were ONLY coming out on Xbox 360 or Xbox One, or said: "DLC coming to Xbox first". It's about time they started eating some crow....and this is coming from someone (myself) who has enjoyed the Xbox brand, up until their pre-console release fiasco.

I was fully ready to adopt both PS4 and Xbox One up until M$ pulled its b$....and then, the answer became clear for me (and the majority of the console gaming community)....PS4 all the way.

Ugh...sorry...I'll stop. Did not mean to turn this into an Xbox thrashing. Destiny is a really cool game....and I'm sure it is a cool game no matter which console you own.

(But it does look gorgeous on PS4) :)

Let's not.

Edit: After some consideration, I don't want to shit all over your fun. Enjoy Destiny! ;)

I almost went out and bought this today, but then I took a nap instead.

I am NOT a big fan of multiplayer games, and that seems to be a big part of the appeal of Destiny, so I'm wondering if I'll really enjoy it. I much prefer playing solo campaigns. I'm looking forward to reading people's reviews as they play through.

RoJoHen, the way Destiny plays, you can play solo....there are some areas in the game where it will let you know if teaming up with someone is absolutely necessary....otherwise, you can play it solo. Yes, you'll still see other players as you play the game, and some might even be playing the same mission as you in your instance, but as far as I can tell, it does not in any way interfere with your solo session. :)

Aye, I hear ya SPECTRE. I've been enjoying Destiny, as I'm sure many have, regardless of their console of choice. :) It feels like a mix of Halo and Borderlands....only purdier. :)

It just seems to b a very unique style of gameplay. I'm interested to see how well it is received.

I don't have either a PS4 or an Xbox One (though I plan on getting a PS4 eventually), and I don't want to play it on a last-gen console when the game was clearly developed for current consoles. So I'm holding out hope that they'll release it for the PC in the near future. There have been rumblings that it actually might happen, but I'm not holding my breath. :p

I played the game for about three hours last night. Had only planned a quick hour or so before bed but got sucked in pretty quickly. My initial impressions are very good. I think Bungie accurately describes it as a "shared-world shooter" rather than an MMO (anyone expecting a WoW-type experience from this game will be disappointed).

It's nothing revolutionary, to be sure, but it wraps together all of what I really like about Halo, Borderlands and even a bit of Mass Effect. I'm looking forward to spending a lot more time with it.

Well...I'm suddenly inclined to skip this game altogether. My favorite games are ones with good stories and well-developed characters. This game looks like it has none of that.

So far, it actually has a pretty cool story....of course, you have to travel to different parts of the world/and or solar system to unlock the story as you go.

The story in this game doesn't pace as quickly as games that are just single player offline experiences. You'd need some patience.

But, no game is for everyone....I think I can understand why you'd not be so inclined to play it. :)

I wish I had played the Beta. It would give me a much better sense of whether I want to buy this game or not.

The Beta was pretty beefy. It gave you a good idea of how the game played and progressed. There was a level cap of 8, but you got to experience quite a bit. :)
