Destination Star Trek, Birmingham UK

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about going to Destination Star Trek in Birmingham this October, I was wondering if anybody has been in previous years and what their experiences were like?

Looking through their website it seems like there is a lot of photo shoots, which is not really something I am interested in, would there be enough activities to occupy myself if I skip those? Dont get me wrong, I wouldn't mind getting a photo with the cast at all but paying to wait in several different lines all day doesn't thrill me. The different talks and panels however, I would be very interest in.

I've never been to anything like this so I would love to hear how you found it :)

It all depends on what you want out of the event. Photo shoots/autographs are a large part of it. In terms of autographs depending on the guest they tend to operate a virtual queue ticket system where you collect a ticket with a number on it. So long as your number has been called you can join the queue for an autograph for that guest. But people tend to head straight to collect those for people they want in order to get a low number.

As for waiting in several lines you'll be next to fellow fans to talk to. Some might become friends. I've been doing cons and events for long enough now that often I only go to these things to see friends and catch up.

If you only plan to go on one day Sunday tends to be a slighlty better day (unless there is a saturday only event you want to see or do)
