Desperately need £900

I believe a recently-founded small start-up bank called the ECB has just started a massive debt purchase programme for the hopelessly indebted, and they apparently don't mind whether they ever get their money back.

Best person to contact: Jean-Claude Trichet, telephone: +49 69 13 44 0

You're welcome.

That is a bit of a dickish thing to say. Having known first hand the pain that financial difficulties cause, I'm sympathetic to the OP.

Cracking a joke about the European Central Bank bailing out Spain is irrelevant in this matter because its not as if the OP can borrow money from a corporate bank.

For a shrink, you sure can be cold sometimes...

If they lent money to Italy, they'll lend money to everybody.

Yeah, even the Spanish...

Oh, lighten up.

Pop down to London - you should easily be able to pick up £900 worth of stuff to drop off at Cash Converters...

Yes, I believe many shops there are currently having firesales...

Or if you can't make it to London, try Birmingham, Romford, Liverpool or (apparently) Glasgow...

WTF is going on with this country - it's like some kind of Planet Of The Chav Uprising...

They even hit Nottingham last night...although perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised. Home of Robin Hood and all that...

Tried all suggestions to no avail - credit file is in really bad shape. Thanks anyway guys.

Did you try talking to your electric company? Do you have any friends who are shadetree mechanics who might be willing to help you?

I doubt anyone here is going to point you to a loan shark.

Rise of the Chavs?

You should write the novelisation!

begun the chav wars have :)

to the OPhave you tried vanquis bank? they gave me a credit card and i was well in the shite with my credit rating. I know sticking more debt onto other isnt the best idea but it may help the interest rate is pretty high though

With regards to the electric bill, is it seriously the red one, the last possible chance before they cut you off, or is there potential leaway into holding off paying it a month or so more?

Have you spoken with work to see whether an advance on your salary is possible? I realise a lot of places won't do this.

Have you contacted citizen's advice? Seriously they may be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

Does anyone know a loan shark?

Im quite serious.

Don't go down that road, please, it won't do you any good...

I don't really know what you can do other than plead poverty to the people whom you owe money - the CAB will advise on the best way to do this.

The Mob/Loan Sharks are a really, REALLY bad idea. Worst idea EVER.

There are reasons why there are countless movies make about these bottom-feeders.

See if you can find a mechanic who will let you pay them out. Surely you or someone in your family know of someone who they have dealt with for a long while and who could help.

I don't know what the "MOT" is...but it's not worth risking your life with a loan shark.
