Design the Next Enterprise

Not really. She's much smoother, pointer and curvier than the Sovereign.

Though I'll agree they need to take the textures a different direction, or they will look a bit too similar.

No idea how it'll look on the ship, but here's a texture block with what they're going to use on the Enterprise-F:

So this is what the Borg cubes look like after they assimilate the Federation?

The contest site now redirects to Cryptic's home page, and all the entries, (including the runners up) are now broken links :(

Hopefully it's just a bug, but it seems more likely that it's all gone for good :(

In one of the captions they have a render of the final version of the ship that's unpainted/blank - and from a different angle; and it appears they kept the small open space between the primary and secondary hulls (which I like.)

I also hear that the player version will have variants (ie parts you can swap for parts that look slightly different); and I hope they have a few different Saucers as my one nitpick is the saucer of the final version is still shapped too much like a Soverign class saucer for my taste - but in the end, overall, I think Capn Logan did a good job realizing the STO final design from Adam Ilhe's contest winning scetch; given the constraints of not being allowed to incorporate some of Adam's later revisions (for understantable legal reasons) which a lot of people (including myself and Capn Logan as well from his posts on the STO forums) did like.

Pretty swell, all things considered.

Its got the vesta-style coloring going on... I wonder if that's something CBS required to "move forward" the hull colorings of Starfleet (they're actually still trying to get a contract to use the Vesta in the game as well)

Btw Asamov: where was that image posted? I can't find where it was linked and Stahl said they were keeping the ship reveal exclusive to Startrek.com until Friday. Just wondering since they have a rule about leaking unreleased stuff, and I don't want to get 'teh banhammerz' by re-linking it.

It was silly not to post the hi-rez images anyway.

Sorry I have been MIA lately guys, been learning how to use Zbrush and it takes alot of my time. I have to say I love it. The configuration would actually still seperate the way I wanted it to. But I do love the final and I am honored to have been a part of it.

Z-Brush is a lot of fun, isn't it? Have you tried Mudbox (Autodesk's version) as well, or are you focusing on just this one?

Mudbox is next, one at a time tho, as I sculptor I have to say this is a major task, sculpting with out touching is not as easy as it looks.
