"Desert Crossing": Clancy Brown is tribal perfection

Was anyone else here fond of Mister Brown's portrayal of the leader-in-exile Zobral? To me, he played an excellent desert man.

Can't say I feel like it's a depiction that's aged especially well, as much as I love Clancy Brown. It's not the worst, especially for its era, but it does feel broadly stereotypical, and I always thought the episode itself was pretty flat. Real waste of Clancy Brown's talents especially.

I always had a problem with “Desert Crossing” — Archer gets a sense that their cause is worth fighting for, but we never really find out what that cause actually is.

I liked the episode for a bunch of reasons: Trip - and Archer - without shirts; great interaction between the two; and, yes, Clancy Brown.

I liked his energy. When he was shouting down Malcolm, and trying to shout down T'Pol.

Yeah, it's a bit obvious on the Commenting About A Social Issue bit. But "Star Trek" always goes over the top on that.

I enjoyed his performance; at the minimum, it made me wish we had seen potential contributions of his in the "TNG era".
