Describe your scientific interest

Any way the lady I know told me that she had decided to have the genetic test and luckily it came up negative. She had to go through genetic counseling before she had to test and she said that some family members decide against the test after counseling.
I had to visit the Huntington's unit at Lottie Stewart Hospital in Sydney as part of my training. Very sad place. Huntingon's has a "autosomal dominant" transmission pattern - if you have 1 copy of the gene, you will develop the disease - so if either of your parents have the disease, you are at 1:2 risk. Different from recessive diseases (eg hereditary Haemochromatosis), where you need to inherit a copy of the mutation from each parent.
