the interesting thing is only Christina Cox's character and the fat nerd have zero regrets so far.

Is anybody else getting that Nadia had a sex change, or is that supposed to be a relative?

I have to admit - I thought the same thing when we first saw the figure, it did look like Florentine Lahme with a dodgy moustache stuck on.
With everyone talking about her in a beard, I started thinking about the same thing. Whatever's going on, they're taking this whole "sex in space" thing to a new level. :vulcan:

Is there ANY chance whatsoever of this show getting renewed?

Hard to say, since it's an international co-production and its future isn't based on its performance on a single network. It's kind of like a syndicated show, except that it's sold to nationwide TV networks in various different countries rather than to various local stations within one country. Even if ABC drops it, it could potentially get another season based on its foreign performance, and some other US network might pick it up. No idea what its foreign ratings are like, though.

I am very close to bailing on this show. I had to skip through most of this episode to get through it. I have defended it in the past, but the show is just moving too slowly. If I never see another "5 years ago" flashback again I will be happy.

I gave it an Average.

I think the show might improve if, oh I don't know....SOMETHING FUCKING HAPPENED!!

:scream:

Man, is this slow. We don't know any more about Beta than we did in the first show. The astronauts haven't gone anywhere yet. And this biggest setback so far is a candy commercial got canceled (obviously Beta did not want it. Maybe to stop the science experiments?).

Anyway, I'm getting sick of abortion chick, Mars boys, and rabbit girl. Let's GO, PEOPLE!!

And yes, that looked to me like Nadia in a beard.

Well, I liked this episode. I was appropriately scared. Then again, I'm really easy to scare. I wish we would get more info about Beta by now. It seems like the overall plot hasn't progressed much. And now Mrs. Shaw also has a terrible past? This is getting a bit ridiculous, I must say. This is one messed up crew.

I enjoyed the episode - it was pretty cool with all of the hallucinations that leave more questions open than they close. And we've got the promise of some more Beta Heavy story next week.

You don't expect all of the answers at once, though, do you? They've clearly got a plan and we keep getting hints about what could be going on, the truth will be unveiled eventually - and I'm willing to wait because I'm enjoying the journey to that point.

They still need to pick up the pace.

And I'm not talking "24" pace where Donner finds out the doctor is a traitor and kills him 10 minutes into the show, only to find out the doc was working for a bigger bad, so they travel from Venus to Mars in 10 minutes to uncover the truth about Beta only to find out Beta is misdirection for the real terrorist plot.

The funny thing about this show it was all hyped up to be filled with sex. Yet I can barely even remember the last sex scene.

Considering the ratings, they better cough up those answers soon. They've got 2M viewers and change now. Even if this show is cheaper than dirt, there's no way that's a survival level rating.

There are ways to string along an audience and keep them intrigued in a mystery. This show's writers don't know how. And I've watched Lost for years without getting very fidgety, so it's not like I'm the impatient type.

It may already be cancelled.

After Sunday September 13, 2009, you’ll notice Defying Gravity isn’t on the schedule anywhere.

At least the BBC will finish showing the programme then - it's rare that they pull a show in the middle of its run.

I don't think the show was officially hyped as sex-filled. It was hyped as "Grey's Anatomy in space" because of the involvement of executive producer James Parriott, but the general public thinks about shows more in terms of their content than the people behind them (unless those people have names like Whedon or Sorkin), and apparently Grey's Anatomy has a lot of sex in it. So people assumed this show would as well.

Sex, and the implications of sexual tensions, are everywhere. Maddux and Nadia, Maddox and Zoe, Ted and Jen, Paula and Steve, Jen and Rollie, etc. Those damned halo patches are simply highlighting the tensions of interpersonal relations without the release of sex. Better that way.

I must be weird. I'm watching the show and then online the next day. I couldn't stand more than one episode of Lost, despite trying, and it being a huge hit.

I'm sure CTV will keep airing it (or perhaps Space) regardless of the American schedule, so people will still be able to watch it in some manner anyway.

As for the episode... meh. It's right in that perfect spot in the schedule where there's nothing I want to watch, so it gets put into my rotation.

Well the CTV ads for them (Cdn channel that's airing it) said, "It is going to get a whole lot hotter in space."
