Defiance Season 2 Discussion

So, do I got this right? Bringing Kenya back was only part of Pottinger's master plan to score with Amanda? That's pretty weak. I get the impression the guy must really have lousy luck with the ladies, despite the fact that he's rich, handsome, and in a somewhat high position in E-Rep. Or does he have no problem finding casual sex, which he shouldn't, rich guy in a world where prostitution is legal, but just considers Amanda to be The One, causing him to trip over himself with spy cams, sob stories of a traumatic past and now aliens disguised as her dead sister? Love/lust sure can drive a man to crazy things.

And if Indogene Kenya is only supposed to have memories that Amanda was aware of, how is it that when the duct tape thing from last year was brought up, Amanda knew that when Kenya removed the tape off her breast she "nearly took a nipple off"? Did Amanda stick around while Kenya removed the tape, did Kenya tell her later, or did she tell Nolan who later told Amanda?

Honestly, I don't really have much else to say about this episode. Quentin has returned and is apparently working for the Votanis Collective, which I guess will help them continue their support of Rafe and Datak now that their spy has been exposed and killed. Although the fact Quentin turned out to be Kenya's captor certainly hints at him having changed drastically.

Overall, a pretty disappointing and bland episode and this season is really starting to feel padded out.

.

This is the impression I gathered as well. Why bother with the whole Fake Kenya charade?

Two secrets remained hidden: (1) Stahma didn't have to worry about her secret being found out by Amanda [or anyone other than Datak] because the real Kenya is dead, and (2) Pottinger was behind all this, but as he tried to kill Doc Yewll and Fake Kenya, they both got away.

Quentin has changed quite a bit since the last time I saw him. He looks beefier and more rugged. I somewhat associated Quentin with Pottinger through Fake Kenya but later realized that Quentin wasn't working with Pottinger.

Damn, are they getting rid of the doctor? She's one of the few characters I actually liked.

I doubt they'd get rid of her this early, since I agree she's becoming a favorite character (mainly due to her snark) and there's a lot of exciting potential with her dubious sense of morality and her secret past.

I hate Stahma now. What a psycho.

Joe Rogan once assured me that "Crazy Chicks are the best!"

He followed that up with "Prom night, my date was chasing me around our hotel room with a knife, it was awesome."

(A character Joe was playing, not actually Joe himself. It's called acting.)

I really enjoyed this one.
I did not see the expect Kenya to be disguised Indogene, that really caught me by surprise. Same with Quentin, I'm very curious to see where that is going.
Pottinger really is scary. It's crazy that he would go through all of that just in an attempt to seduce Amanda.
So Stahma really did kill Kenya then. I have to admit, I had been assuming all this time that she had let her go.
Apparently the duct tape was just a sex thing with then.

When they first started setting up Stahma actually genuinely believing Kenya to be dead and claiming she could prove it with a body, I began wondering if there were established ways in the show a dead person could return. Then I remembered the Indogene thing last year with that astronaut played by SGU's Lt. Scott, making it no surprise when Kenya is revealed to be an Indogene.

I'll agree, Quentin was a genuine surprise, though admittedly I had forgotten the character even existed.

1. Pottinger. This has to be about a lot more than getting Amanda's pants and heart. There has to be a long game here.

2. Kenya the Indogene. Shouldn't be able to scrape your skin off, BAD SKIN JOB. A bit too much exfoliating in the shower and she would have been an Icke poster girl.

3. Stahma. Stahma. Stahma. I LOVED KENYA. You fucking bitch. There are no sexy people now, do you expect me to take freaking AMANDA as the substitute?

But I love Kenya, with my heart!!

..

Okay, I'm lying. But it could be my heart after a few seasons of loving her with lower things. And where is the sexiness now? Amanda though FAR more interesting this season doesn't bring it.

So you didn't like her on Buffy or Dexter either?

(I feel like we've been to this rodeo before.)

Also I probably thought it was a revelation the last three times I remembered (and forgot) that Stahma and Amanda were ####ing Dexter at the same time on Dexter.

Wow.

I had to go back to 1990 to find somewhere Mia was a series regular for any meaty consistency.

21 episodes of Dracula the Series... Oh.

Miss Kirshner would have been 15, and therefore of no use to you pornographically.

No I liked her on Angel very much. Having seen her on Angel (I am on season 4 now NO SPOILERS PEOPLE) I liked her even more on Defiance. I just don't find her Defiance character sexy at all, she is too.. uptight and officey. And bossy and waspy.

And of course I have not seen Dexter and won't see Dexter. Delicacy.

If they really wanted, Kenya could still be alive. Who's to say the skull was even hers considering how many people take bodies outside of Defiance to dispose of? Just give her the same thing that's inside Irisa and she can come back at any time. Then alien tech Kenya can fight Indogene Kenya. Won't ever happen though. :p

Quentin was so soft and sensitive before this. Torturing and beating Kenya?

I hope there is an explanation for it. Okay he may hate Amanda because of her e-rep connection but.. it's not making sense.
