Deep Throat is dead !!

Strep Throat is still out there...waiting. :shifty:

The director of DEEP THROAT also died recently. Not a good year for "Deep Throat" people.

Awww, all my good jokes already taken. Oh well. Hurray for the whistle blowers.

It's been a while since I've heard some Tricky Dick jokes. I feel all nostalgic.
Now we just need the editorial cartoon with Tricky Dick in the back seat and Ted Kennedy driving.

If anyone is interested, Frost/Nixon is an excellent movie. I highly recommend it.

No shit.

Having been born in '84, and being somewhat of a political hobbyist, I'm plenty familiar with Nixon, but didn't know too much about the Frost interviews.

Saw this movie last week after having seen David Frost on The Daily Show a couple weeks prior and I was blown away. Michael Sheen was good in The Queen but he really kicks ass as David Frost.

And Frank Langella, who delivered one of my favourite supporting performances of 2005 in Good Night and Good Luck was fucking mesmerising as Nixon.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie because other than Apollo 13 I find Ron Howard pretty bland as a director. Ironically, in the most low-key screenplay I've seen him tackle, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Kind of strange to think of a movie where everyone's sitting on their ass most of the time as a thriller, but there it is.

I found it interesting that some scenes were filmed almost like a Rocky movie in that the Frost and Nixon and went to their respective corners to be coached. The tension was palpable. Frank Langella was absolutely incredible in this movie and he should at the very least be nominated for an Oscar.

Ah, the "Carpet Bombing" style of Political Cartooning. :rommie:

"Do any fornicating lately?" :rommie:

I saw the previews for this, and I thought the guy who plays Nixon looked terrible.

Do you remember how the real Nixon looked at the time of the Frost interviews?

Langella's been awesome for a long time, though. I've seen him do some very different roles and all of them well.

Yeah, I remember watching those interviews. I didn't mean that he looks terrible himself, I meant that I think he makes a terrible Nixon.

^I thought Langella was the best part of the movie. He doesn't do a dead-on imitation of Nixon like a mimic would, but he certainly gets to the heart of the man. Again, excellent movie.
