the "rockers" may be represented by the particular shape of the chevrons.

That's a nice idea - the little turned tips on those chevrons do look funny.

Too bad they didn't series-produce variants of these chevron plates for DS9 and slap them at background extras at random. Hard to see how they could have erred with that.
