Yep - nothing like Christmas to make people realise how much things have changed, and maybe plan for a better future...
Just an idea![]()
Hmm... perhaps I could do change regarding the destruction of the Enterprise-D and the creation of the Enterprise-E? Would they have had a party or something for the comissioning of the new ship? Also, is there any canon mention of what the crew was doing during the time between the D's destruction and the E's comissioning? (Just so I'm aware of what was going on during that year). Did they see much of each other during that time?
Well how can I do a fic about changing from D to E if it HAS to take place after 2374??????? I'm really only capable of writing TNG fanfics, as that's the series I'm most familiar with, and there are no big changes for them after that date unless I do a post-Nemesis "Data's dead, Riker's a Captain, etc, etc." fic? And as I know next to nothing on the topic of love and marriage, it would be hard for me to do a Riker/Troi wedding proposal fic.
IMO, destruction of D/commissioning of E is really the only kind of fic I could feasibly write. After all, that does mark a "New Era" for the TNG crew, though it may not be the era you're looking for.

However, the last few themes we've had were topics I either really didn't like or knew jack squat about, which is pretty frustrating to me.

Oh for goodness sake, you could do any number of stories about the TNG crew and change wrought by the dominion.
Hell what incident prompted Will to finally take his own command and finally marry Deanna?
All it takes is some imagination, it doesn't even have to be depressing. Heck look at the Picard we saw at the start of Nemesis, didn't he seem to have more of a spring in his step? Why was that? what had happened?
The whole point of a challenge is that it is a challenge
Sorry, I don't mean to rant, I just don't think it should be one challenge for one and another for someone else that's all.
