December Challenge 2007: The New Era

Mistral: There was a Voyager episode where Lori Petty (from the movie "Tank Girl") guest-starred & it involved a planet caught in a bizarre anomalous pocket of subspace.

Tuvok & Paris' shuttle is yanked through a rift at the mouth of the distortion field & forced to crashland due to the planet's insanely powerful distortion field / gravity well. 2 months spent on this planet means only 2 days have passed on the outside of the distortion field surrounding the planet.

I was thinking of re-editing my "Star Trek: Avalon" story to adjust the plot to something just like it, instead of a lone survivor, the away team of the Avalon find a whole society descended from the survivors of ships getting drawn in. Including an NX-Era vessel of some kind.

Maybe add a bit of DS9's "Meridian", where the rift only appears/opens/closes every few years, & never in the exact same spot twice.

Like the gold thing that kept popping in & out of subspace that Voyager discovered some Old Earth astronauts' vehicle lodged inside of, in the episode "One Small Step" & adding a little of what we know about the Barzan Wormhole, too.

Wow! This seems to have been a good challenge so far! I don't think I'm going to have a story to enter this time (having said that, I'll probably dream up something tonight :) ) - but I'm looking forward to reading all the entries.

Okay, for images you need a photobucket account (or something like that) so that you can upload your image from your drive to the internet. That'll then give you the URL to load into the Image tags here.

For creating the link for your story - open up the thread where you posted your story, copy the address in the address bar thingy at the top of the screen. Then put that into the URL code here.

If you quote the post I made, you'll see what I mean - it has the address of your thread in the url tags.

ETA - this is what I mean:

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre> Challenge Entry by Mistral - You're my (only) Pally

</pre><hr />

For the image, you'll also need 100 posts for your images to show inline. Until then they will only show as links. :)

Ok, one official entry. I'll save the rest for later challenges.

"Pandora's Star"

Synposis: Inconvenient emotions run high as Commander Alicia Chrichton (X.O. of the Osiris-Class U.S.S. Vonnegut) encounters an idyllic resort world just outside the northwest corner of Romulan Territory.

I'm assuming I have till 11pm tonight GMT to post my entry (almost done) if this isn't the case...well I'll post it anyway, it just won't get voted on :)

I commented about my entry in the post. It explains things a bit. It might be late, but this story didn't come together quickly or well for me. Congrats on a difficult challenge Timmy..
