On 22 December someone should announce to the world that the world will end on 31 Dec 2099 as the date and time settings on my computer only go up to then. A computer is sure to be more reliable than the Mayans.
Unless there is some really drastic improvement in medicine I won't be around in 2099 to see if my prediction comes true.

Not true. More than a million of them live in Central America. Many of them even speak and write Mayan.
