Deanna Troi on DS9?

What if Marina Sirtis joined the cast of DS9 in Season 4 in addition to Dorn (Worf)? I guess they could have continued the Worf-Troi arch, and they probably wouldn’t have gotten Ezri as a counselor in S7. Of course, like Worf, they’d find a way to write her into FC and Insurrection. They could have downplayed or derailed Worf’s relationship with Jadzia too.

Ouch, I've never understood the Worf/Troi hate. I like that relationship and was dissapointed that they went back to Troi/Riker.

I would have liked it if tey had had Troi make recurring visits to DS9, would have been happy to have other TNG cast members ay regualr visits too.

I kind of liked it too -- better than Troi/Riker, I can tell you that. I thought it was far more interesting.

And besides, I *hate* those on again/off again romances (where the two people are KIND of in love, but no so much that they can't fall in love with other people, if that suits the Plot of the Week, and then they go back to being KIND of in love with the original person again and then...and then...and then...) that TV people are always inflicting on us, and Troi/Riker is a perfect example of that.

I dislike Troi a lot and I'm glad she never appeared. I wish her mother never did too. At times the Federation seemed to be populated by a few dozen people.

I didn't hate the Troi/Worf thing...it just came really out of nowhere and it seemed like a really strange pairing. Plus, it was never really given the time to develop, so it was tough to buy. However, it did provide a good set-up of the "history" for the future section of AGT.

Also, they would have never killed Troi on DS9...not since at that time they were still big into making TNG movies.

As strange as this sounds (and I don't know what reason could have been crafter for this to happen), I think bringing Data onto DS9 instead of Worf could have been interesting. Especially since he is experience emotions for the first time. It would have practically been a whole new character. It would have been also interesting if he was the one to start a relationship with Dax (not saying it would have been necessarly good, but definately interesting).

It would have been interesting to see Troi's reaction to the "hive of scum and villainy" that is Quark's! I also agree the Worf/Troi relationship was more interesting than the more predictable Riker/Troi relationship. As I remember, the writers supposedly came up with that "Beauty & the Beast" subplot because Marina Sirtis complained they weren't giving her enough interesting things to do in TNG.

Of all the TNG characters, I think Troi and Geordi would've been the worst fits, and Data, too, to a lesser extent. Dr. Crusher has a bit of an edge, so I think she could fit in. Even Picard and Riker would've adjusted better. Of all the TNG characters, Worf and O'Brien were made for DSN, IMHO.

I don't see how she could have contributed to storylines, really.

And the only pairing worse than Troi/Worf was Seven/Chakotay. Both of these came from nowhere and left many of us saying "WTF"?

Given Sirtis' jabs at DS9, I'm glad she didn't wind up on DS9. Worf got a better wife, and the station got a better counselor.

TV inflicting that upon us only? is that really so far-stretched? is that really so incomprehensibly unrealistic?

Over the years, I've had a few relationships....one of them is an on-again off-again that just seems to keep re-sparking to life every time we randomly bump into eachother every few years.

So I can kinda see the troi-riker on-and-off thing quite...real.

"We want to, but....would it end like before....but we want to...but, damn...brain freeze."

Yeah, I was just about to mention this.
Would she have even wanted to be on DS9? After all, it doesn't go anywhere, right?

I always prefered the Worf-Deanna relationship to the Riker-Deanna one.

I think the Riker and Troi pairing was to predictible, whereas the Troi Worf one was unusual and made for great TV moments looing at the differences between Klingons and Betazoids and then of course you had Alexander and Luxwanna thrown into the mix.

I would have liked to have seen Troi on DS9 at least in that way we would have had some closure on what really happened between Troi and Worf.

As an idea, Klingon/Betazoid relationships could provide us interesting insights and storylines, but what came to Troi and Worf, they had no chemistry between them whatsoever. Though, I liked how honorably Worf tried to act when it came to Riker on that matter. :)

Out of all the characters from TNG that could have joined DS9, Troi is the only one I would have thought might not have worked too well. She would have been great on Voyager though... oh hang on a minute, she was! :p
