I think it's a coincidence because it's being released today in the UK. You would think the UK distributors would be more apt to release it on their countrywoman's birthday than we would.
I got all pumped to buy the new Harry Potter blu-ray tomorrow, but then I looked at the release date. Why is it coming out on a Friday when everybody knows DVDs come out on Tuesdays? Who made this decision, and why are they trying to ruin my life?
I've been weighing whether or not to get this, in hopes that parts 1 and 2 will be packaged at Christmas... Then again, they may screw us (shocker!) and not do it that way... Blah.. What to do, what to do...
As for double dips, yes there will be, there always will be. You'll find collecting DVDs/Blu-rays to be a lot less stressful if you just accept this as a fact of life.

I saw advertised a bluray boxset of "Harry Potter years 1-7 part 1" and I thought, who on Earth would buy a boxset knowing there is just one more film to come and will be out by the end of this year and a new, complete, boxset will be out?
