"Deal Breaker" for you?

I don't know if there's anything that might keep me home because I'm likely to go see it out of curiosity more than anything else.

Rapid Trekkies picketing the theater might keep me away, though! ;)

There will be some issues that will determine if I think it's a good film or not, ranging from whether any major breaks are made with Trek universe continuity (assuming the film isn't a reimagining) to whether the film as a film is any good to whether the key perfomers - Quinto as Spock and Pine as Kirk - do a good job.

Cheers!

I must admit that I'm not crazy about this new film being made, but I will still see it, regardless of what they do or change.

Because, at the end of the day, it's just a movie.

While I am a scosh more optimistic about the movie, I tend to agree.

I recently paid $12 to see two 40-year old episodes of Trek on the big screen. I think I'm willing to pay about that to see a new one.

If the movie is a musical, is an ice show, or it the cast is replaced by sock puppets.

Well, sock puppets would be a deal breaker. They'd have to be better quality puppets, more like that Angel episode where Angel was turned into "a wee little puppet man!"

I'd love a musical, if it's a good musical. Impartial about an ice show, but it better be great.

How about a musical ice show:

Chapel: Oh Spock, you're as cold as ice / and I try so hard to be nice!

Oh-kay, maybe not. Even sock puppets might be okay, so long as the film isn't so serious.

Kirk: Bones, your brother is dead.
Bones: (cries, and by cries I mean the hand playing him flaps around a bit while a voice sobs)
Sad strings play. Hand continues to flap. Audience begins to leave.

But in the end of the day... even a bad idea can be saved with good execution. :) That's why I'm relatively non-commital to specific bugaboos.

Even a passing mention of Robert April will be good, if nothing else than to please the fans who consider him canon...even though that's debatable. It would be like the brief appearance of Gladiator Voltron/Voltron II/Albegas in the recent Voltron comics.
