Deadline: Trek 2 May Be Pushed to Holiday 2012

None of this is surprising. Exactly why the fuck did they sit on this project SO LONG after Trek 09's release and success?

J.J. probably. It isn't exactly a huge amount of time though. It comes out when it comes out.

The guy whose been chirping about May 2013 doesn't look so crazy now.

I'm really astounded at this myself. This should have been out already this spring, with the third movie scheduled for May 2013. Get the movie trilogy done and firmly entrenched in the fans hearts and minds, and then go back to television (where Trek belongs) and tell more stories in the new timeline.

I think Paramount prefers this to be a summer movie and not a christmas movie so May 2013 seems the best option now.

Christmas 2012 works for me - I don't want want to be going to a midnight screening in the middle of the year!

Lot's of franchises need a rest and lite reboot, the money Trek made indicates it is still very much alive and popular. Trek just needed a rest, everything that was being produced was garbage (Enterprise, Ins, Nem)...and didn't appeal to the general audience, let alone the fanbase.

I should be used to lines like that, but they are still so aggravating, especially from someone who was just going on about the fanbase and appeal of Star Trek. Reading that sort of thing makes me not want to be a part of the fanbase; certainly in mediums like this, at any rate.

The plural of medium is media.
As is "mediums," according to any of a number of reputable English-language dictionaries, thank you. Have you got anything relevant to the topic, or even relevant to Trek generally?

Because of what is beginning to seem like a glut of upcoming films, maybe 2013 is the best outcome anyway. I seriously hope they go over the script with a fine tooth comb this time, on the lookout for plot holes. They should simply hire an obsessive fan to act as official Script Challenger. The job wouldn't have to pay much. Script Challenger could even work from home. For example, if they completely forget about transwarp beaming at some crucial point, that will be... unfortunate.:klingon:

That's the pluralization of a different form of "medium": a person thought to have the power to communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension. Or, as Merriam-Webster offers as an example, These shirts are all mediums and I take a large.

It really does beg the question... wtf have they been doing for the past two years?!

24 months and just a 70 page outline? Obviously they have other projects, but come on!

Since it being a reboot was so important you think they'd already have the next five movies planned and plotted out.

this jj abrams will do anything to avoid making the next star trek movie

JJ really needs to focus on the next Trek movie or give up the reigns to someone more enthusiastic about it.

J.J. needs to do what is best for him. Star Trek is now his focus since Super 8 is done, though.

Since it being a reboot was so important you think they'd already have the next five movies planned and plotted out.

Which is not practical.

Which, of course, is not true.

They should just give the star trek movie to someone who actually wants to make it

Well isn't it beautiful? Years and years went into bitching against Berman, who didn't do ANYTHING else but Star Trek, for almost 30 years. And now we have Abrams, for whom Star Trek is just another project among many.

You should have stopped spamming this thread before it got you a warning. Too late for that now, though, and you are invited to take any further comments you might have to PM.

Does anyone think there may be a "surprise" announcement at Comic-Con next week à la 2006's teaser poster?

If so, I think this would go a long way to garner some "forgiveness" from the fans for the delay.
