De Kelley's Pinkie Ring

I laughed because crusher disciple came along and asked "so does anybody know about the ring" -- right after you had explained it, then you replied to him/her that you had no idea...after you just explained it. Am I missing something? No I went back and checked...that's what happened.

I stand by my :guffaw:

What I explained was what I read about DEFORREST KELLEY's reason for wearing the ring. What Crusher disciple then asked was if there was a reason why MCCOY wore the ring. I was talking about real life, she was asking about In-universe.

Two different things.

What the heck is in-universe??

Well I am not sure what the TOS "in universe" explanation would be but I think in the "alt universe" it was meant to be his class ring. I could be mistaken though. (Whatever the reason, I thought it was a nice touch having Karl wear a pinky ring in the movie. I am a huge fan of DeForrest and seeing him being honored in such a small way was touching.)

^ I hadn't noticed that... since mine is still in the box. :rommie:

But he was wearing it in the movie, pinky swear.

I'm thinking about losing mine's underwear, too; I haven't taken him out of the box either, but I'm cogitating on it. Are there stands for them in the box?

What's worse, I'm also wondering if I shouldn't get the Kirk and Spock figures, even though they don't favor the actors as much as the McCoy one. You people have ruined me.

It means within the context of the Star Trek universe.

In Star Trek (2009), the line originally was, "...got the whole damn planet in the divorce, and all I got are my bones...and this ring."

It was deleted for pacing, and also McCoy's new nickname for the reboot, "Bone Ring", just sounded too suggestive.

 That's just wrong.
