DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

Just read Superman/Wonder Woman #2 and Batman #25. Both were very solid issues. I loved seeing Superman lay the smack-down on Apollo.

Agreed with Superman/Wonder Woman #2...although I'm now confused with the Doomsday stuff. Have they gone and retconned Morrison's Action Comics? Because this issue implied that Clark hasn't faced Doomsday yet, or am I just confusing it with the Super Doom Stuff? LOL.

Clark faced a doomsday "scenario" in Action comics, but never the actual monster Doomsday.

So Superman/WonderWoman's first arc is just going to seemingly be a parade of Supes Rouges gallery? Not feeling like it's a very tight story as yet. I guess the root cause will be an explanation as to what is causing the barrier of the Negative Zone to weaken. Likely a force caused by someone is my guess...so who would be the someone?

Someone Wonder Woman related. For story balance.
The Negative Zone? Must be Annihilus then. ;)

I finally read Damian: Son of Batman #1.

The writing was... meh. Damian's monologue was terrible, and his snarky attitude was grating. The dialogue with Talia and Ra's was an "As you know, Bob" of the worst type. And the twist on the final page was telegraphed the whole way through by the way everyone kept saying "Batman" in circumstances where it didn't make any sense.

I have no idea who the priest is supposed to be.

It's an average piece of work.

"Daiman: Son of Batman" is off to a less than stellar start. Kubert proves he's not a very good writer and doesn't really have Damian's voice at all. This book needs Morrison.

@theenglish...I'm aware of that. I mentioned that in my post. Morrison states though that The Death of Superman still happened and that Super Doom was responsible. Superman/Wonder Woman #2 though clearly implied/hinted that Clark possibly couldn't stop Doomsday and a battle against him would be fatal...so my question was has DC already retconned the New 52 Death of Superman??

Didn't Kubert write the Joker Villain Month book? I was not really all that impressed by that one.

I really don't understand why people think artists can also moonlight as writers. With a couple of exceptions, Liefelds, Tony Daniels and Kuberts are the rule rather than the exception.

The art for Damien #1 was absolutely gorgeous though ;)

Morrison basically makes up his own continuity that doesn't always apply to the greater DCU. Remember the Death of the New Gods? :wtf:

Precisely. :)

The Death of the New Gods, along with Countdown were horrible. DC spent that whole second year following new 52 talking about how tight continuity was now that it was retconned and then their two big build up events to Final Crisis don't even match. Nobody ever even talked to the writers to find out what they were doing!
