DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

I have a few theories for the identity of Earth 2's new Batman:

1) It's Terry Sloan with some new scheme up his sleeve.

2) The suit is actually heavily padded and this is where they finally decided to stick Stephanie Brown.

3) In this world where Bruce and Selina did really get together, and there now is no Batman, who else would pick up the mantle but the kid from 3rd Rock From the Sun? John Blake is the new Batman.

He should really use his given name, I like it!

I don't think anything was supposed to happen, like I said this was all psychological, even extending towards us the reader...we're really the ones who kept speculating that something was going to or could happen. It's not new that Bruce hasn't always been trustworthy or kept secrets, but that was just another thing that Joker was attempting to exploit I felt. I agree about that, but I felt like Snyder has upped the ante between Bruce and Joker even more. The whole thing was almost like a big joke, and that is what Joker excels at. Not sure if I'm making sense. I did have that feeling of underwhelming...so I get what people are saying there, but I dunno...I guess I just didn't have that much of a problem with that.

I wonder how long it will be now before we see Joker again. I feel like he's going to go into hiatus again...and I'm okay. It builds our anticipation for his return.

I might change my mind as I'll be rereading it soon but as is, I get what Snyder was going for but it didn't have the impact he seemed to think it would. Granted, he's doing a better job of showing the Bat family breaking apart than it's been done in the past but it still feels like he's covering old ground.

On the other hand, I didn't care for the end of RIP when I read it but now I adore it so who knows?

Interesting, but solid choices. Think they should swap Giffen and Venditti though. At least Nocetti or Lodbell or DeFalco didn't get the job. Whoever said Nocetti was the worst writer ever is totally on the mark.

I've never even heard of the first three, and Giffein I feel utterly neutral on. I see myself cutting NG and GLC very very soon...

BTW, for you Bat-fans out there, Kevin Smith has been interviewing comic book writers like Scott Snyder (Batman), Kyle Higgins (Nightwing), and Grant Morrison (Batman Inc) on his webcast, and they're extremely entertaining and informative! This entire series is devoted to Batman, mainly the comic book and 90s animated series variety. He's also done commentary tracks for classic episodes with the creators and of the new Dark Knight Returns movies. I love these things!

Fiakvov has been writing the new Masters of the Universe "origins" one shots which in my opinion aren't very good. He's also the writer of I, Vampire. I think he's known for writing "horror" type stories.

I wonder if there's endless confusion, particularly for the few surviving comic book stores, over the similar named titles like "Fantastic Four" and "FF" and now "Justice League" and "Justice League of America"...

Yet not by the five million Avengers, X-Men, Batman and Superman titles?

Good stuff. The Scott Snyder one was funny especially how he wanted to go to Disneyland Tokyo to play Prince Charming instead of Graduate School.

The trouble with that is that they based "Green Lantern" on Johns excellent Secret Origin story and we all know how that turned out...not to mention that first Justice League arc was crap, thanks to Jim Lee's co-plotting. It probably would have been as good as the book is now had Johns just been able to write solo, and Lee just focusing on art.

Maybe something progressive coming out of the creative retreat this week...

The Green Lantern movie does not resemble Secret Origin in the slightest. I wish it had. That could have been an awesome movie. Also, basing the Justice League movie off of the wretched first arc of Johns's run is a terrible idea.

It didn't resemble Secret Origins because they meshed it with their original draft...but they did attempt to include stuff from it in the fillm, I forget what writer stated it, but they read it when it came out and were inspired by elements of it. Anyway. Yeah stay away from that Origins Arc.

Also apparently the same person who leaked Amazing Spider-Man #700 is at it again with Batman Incorporated #8...

The story beats and structure were fine. Fleshing it out along a different tangent wouldn't be hard at all. Swap out Darkseid with Brainiac and the parademons with an army of extraterrestrial machines.
