I kinda liked Justice League 8: I didn't pick up on the Booster Gold vibe because Green Arrow seemed like he was channelling his counterpart for the animated Brave and the Bold series. I thought the two-page "where was the JLA during Night of Owls and the Vampire/Gotham invasion" was done just about right.

I love the way Wonder Woman just keeps twisting around. It feels like a book that reads incredibly well now, plenty of cliff-hangers, but is going to read terrific in trade, too. That's rare these days.

Traditional WW fans seem to hate it and that seems to hurt sales.

It's still a Top 25 book; I'm not sure any other era of Wonder Woman could claim that. If Wonder Woman's urban fantasy/horror vibe is "hurt[ing] sales," it's not hurting them in this reality.

I'm absolutely loving Wonder Woman and I would consider myself to be a "traditional" fan of the character. This is exactly the kind of shake up she has needed for a long time now IMO.

It use to be Top 20.

And a lot of these old fans are seriously outraged because the writer made the amazons into rapists and murderers.

I've pretty much dropped Wonder Woman, it just wasn't going anywhere fast enough for me. It start off okay but too much time spent with Themyscira B/S and wasn't quickly enough getting to Wonder Woman kicking ass, saving the world and taking names. She also seemed a bit... "off" in her character. I forgot Supergirl came out this week and it wasn't in my automatic pulls with Comixology, maybe they didn't get in in time and it's there now or be with my stuff next week.

I'll probably give this issue a go then and pick it up next week or the week after. It's not one of my automatic pulls as it's one I'm on the line with and I was a bit tight on money this week.

Week #4 is a big week for me (Aquaman, TDK, Flash, Superman) so maybe I'll get Wonder Woman #8 the first week of May.

I dropped WW.... the story was completely uninteresting to me and the art was pretty bad. I've never enjoyed WW stories very much though... the Simone run was okay, I didn't like the Rucka issues that I read. I have trouble equating magic and gods into superhero comics.

Screw 'em. It's a good book. I was never interested in a WW comic before this. THIS is an interesting and original take, not a retread or a rehash.

In the interview they say:

Nrama: Maybe a few, but this title is selling better than Wonder Woman has in a long time, isn't it?

Azzarello: Yeah, it is. But for me, the cool thing is that we've got people talking about her! People actually care what's going on in Wonder Woman. And there are a lot of new people who care.

So, which is it? Is this Wonder Woman selling better than it has in a long time? Or are sales down?

It is interesting that whenever asked about sales questions, the people replying usually say yes but don't really give figures for it. It's also possible that Azzarello is saying this is selling more than JMS's and Phil Hester's Wonder Woman run.

Well honestly the entire post-Crisis version from Perez to Hester just never sold very well. The best it did was under Byrne and his stuff was shit.

Considering that DC is selling better overall it's possible that WW is selling better than it was pre-Flashpoint even though its chart position is lower.

No kidding. Thor, Ares, Zatanna, Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, etc. Magic and gods have been part of comics for as long as there have been comics.
