Did the giant robot with atom symbols on it make anyone else think "Mr. Atom"?

I don't know who that is, unless it's an unusually formal way of addressing Ray. I was a bit reminded of the gaudy symbol that Dr. Manhattan rejected in favor of his hydrogen-atom symbol. And it was a little reminiscent of Captain Atom's symbol.
A classic Captain Marvel (Shazam!) foe who was a giant robot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_Atom . I'm not saying there's a great resemblance, but seeing giant robot + atom symbol, and that's the association I came up with.
Maybe that was a "time remnant" of Carter Hall, or a doppelganger. 
So why did they wait several episodes to finally confront Savage in 2166? None of what they did in the past ever made any difference. Why not just go straight to the main source?

The virus was released 10 years earlier than it was "supposed" to have been.
It's weird that the Hunters don't die 10 years earlier as well.
It's almost like Vandal knew exactly when he is supposed to kill the wife and kid, and slowed down his invasion, so that the 10 year head start amounted to nothing.
The daughter would have had a mommy, and maybe been less of a robot, but if Dad hadn't killed Mom, she probably wouldn't have changed sides.

Not sure I understand Kendra's dilemma. So this incarnation of Carter is brainwashed: so what? They have the rest of his life and all of time with which to find a solution. Or failing that he just lives out his natural life and is reincarnated again in some other time.
Does he need to remember who he is in order for the reincarnation cycle to continue? Has he been re-incarnating alone for the past two centuries or is there another version of Kendra still out there? Presumably this is the case since Vandal needs them in order to continue to be immortal.

If we hadn't seen old Kendra a couple weeks ago... I might wonder how (also) immortal Carter is if someone doesn't kill him every 3 decades?

They explained repeatedly over the season that taking on Savage at the height of his power, when he has a huge army at his disposal, would be too dangerous. So they tried striking at him at times when he was more vulnerable, but those attempts failed. Now the ticking clock of the timeline "setting" after their younger selves were removed has forced them to strike at the only time and place that they know for sure Savage can be found, even though it's the riskiest move they can make.
If they tagged Savage with a radioactive compound earlier enough in his timeline, with a massive half life, they'd be able to track the man very easily no matter where he is hiding for millennia.

2. Throw a different rock at their temple a day earlier.
If Savages powers are darkmatter related, why isn't Harry's metahuman detector usable technology for tracking Vandal Savage?

Well the fight between Ray and the giant robot was hugely entertaining.
I thought so too. More of that stuff goes a long way in making up for the stuff we always quibble about. I wasn't quite sure why Gideon couldn't back away from it but... oh, there I go again. But yeah the giant robot was just the kind of ridiculousness I like.
Also begs the question: are their reincarnations always synchronous?
If Kendra makes it to menopause in one lifetime, does that mean Carter has to hang around in limbo waiting for her to snuff it, or will he reincarnate anyway? I have a tough time seeing a young Carter getting all "we are destined to be together" when she's all wrinkly with a ladybeard.
Though to be fair that's partly because the actor makes him seem like a bit of a dim fop.
I think the show needs to do more of this. If you are going to have a show built around crazy super heroes like a miniature iron man, two guys who can fuse into burning man, a woman who can fly with hawk wings, you got to use them. It is what makes the show fun. Heck, the show does not make any sense if you try to analyse it seriously so they might as well give up and just go all in on the fun action.
It was certainly new and got my attention. You don't see stuff like that outside of Japanese productions like Power Rangers and Kaiju films.
The producers said in an interview that one of them waits in limbo till the other one dies, and then they reincarnate together.
They are always comparable ages, even though Carter is a couple years older. So does he age faster, or is he shot out of limbo 5 years before she is?
The only thing that really makes any sense is that he's somehow a clone of the Carter we saw on the sacrificial alter a few episodes back.

If nothing else, the Atom has now beaten Ant-Man to the punch when it comes to going big in (theoretically) live action. (Hmm. If Ant-Man becomes Giant-Man, does the Atom become the Giatom?)
I thought it was amusing that Ray chose to be the exact size as the giant robot. One would think he would have chosen to be bigger.
It does pose some of the usual scientific questions, though. Is giant ray less physically dense and therefore much less sturdy than a giant robot? Also, would his body have trouble processing relatively small oxygen particles?

As Vandal Savage is the leader of the timemasters, and made sure that the robot built for his younger self would only just barely lose in a fair fight with Ray while being the exact same height as Ray because this progression of causality is "that Vandal Savage's commanding Vanishing point" established and necessary personal own history.
Sure someone has noticed that dark matter is not freely occurring in this dimension, and if it is present for any reason, then it is by design, that someone targeted Vandal and the Hawks with a meteor.
