DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Bleugh. The Snyderverse returns.

Zod help us all.

Not for long though.
You're being a negative Nelly.

For one thing, in narrative terms, the "Snyderverse" never left. Like it or not, it's always been part of the DCEU's foundation and backstory, and this promises to be a creative and effective use of it.

As for whether Calle continues as Supergirl, I imagine that may well depend on the success of this film and the reception to her in the role. Gunn has already said some established character-actor combos will carry over from the DCEU to his new DCU, so I imagine there's some chance she could be Kara in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. And if not, well, I expect I'll be plenty excited about that next cinematic iteration of the character, as well.

Will Flash be the last Snyderverse film or will that be Aquaman 2?

A little unclear, at least to me. My impression is that, narratively, the "Gunnverse" will be its own thing, but that some character castings and possibly even some backstory elements will carry over. Gunn reportedly posted the following on Instagram recently:
Flash resets many things, not all things. Some characters remain the same some do not.

Fuck, yes.

Interesting trailer.

Very interested to see what role Affleck's Batman plays in this; he's the leader / guidepost of the world's heroes, and acts as counselor to Barry, so the latter ripping apart universes (and/or attempting to restore said universes) should lead to some great scenes for Affleck's Batman.

Zod's return: fascinating, and obviously, he--and the World Engine--must reside in the alternate universe, but I'm guessing he will see the potential in Barry's tinkering, and consider going to Earth-Prime, where his "resurrection" would be quite the heart-stopper for certain heroes.

The cinematography appears to be as grand as the other MoS-continuity films--consistent.

Supergirl looks interesting, but for any who wonder if she would be pasted into Gunn's films, I question it, as the rumors have pointed to a new origin film for the character, and as another member pointed out, her continuation in DC films depends on how audiences perceive her. If the performance is on the DC/CW level, she would not return.

Speaking of returning, it will not be long before we learn the extent of Gadot's Wonder Woman appearance; she shot pick-ups for the film (along with Cavill--the latter reportedly cut from the film), but in consideration of the universe shake-ups, one wonders if the plot will lead to Wonder Woman's death, or wiped from existence.

Someone mentioned the idea of a Lois movie....I seriously doubt that would ever be a possibility, unless heavily anchored to the long-john set, which audiences would expect.

If you're referring to Zod in the Flash, it should come as no surprise, since the film is part of the same continuity / universe.

What might work though is a limited series released a few months prior to the Superman film. It would serve a similar role to the MCU series do for the movies.

I'm not eager to see yet another take on Flashpoint after the animated movie and the Arrowverse version. And I have no nostalgia for Michael Keaton's Batman. Still, I guess I'm curious to see just how they pull this off in the context of the DCEU and the cinematic multiverse. I'm interested by that early line about Barry choosing to stay and fight for the timeline where his mother lives, which implies that in this version, he's not going to regret saving her and end up undoing it, which is a part of Flashpoint I find very distasteful. Perhaps this time, the version where she lives is the new movie continuity that replaces the old one.

Supergirl's costume does look pretty cool. The new Flash costume, not so much.

That was a surprisingly good trailer. The Michael Keaton stuff is the most exciting, but Supergirl looks cool and Flash looks tolerable. I'm not a huge fan of bringing in so much DCEU stuff, but since most of it is getting erased anyway, I suppose its fine. Overall the movie looks like it will better then I thought it would be, hopefully the final film lives up to the trailer.
