DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Unless this is setting up Adam beating Clark and Clark has to call Billy for help.
That wouldn't be an especially auspicious or inspiring return for Cavill's Superman. OTOH, the Rock seems to be steering this particular ship, and I doubt he wants to have Black Adam's ass handed to him either. Probably the most likely thing is the classic comics scenario where they initially duke it out, only to find themselves teaming up against a greater threat.
hopefully Amy Adams will return as well.
Amen to that.

Dwayne Johnson really loves the Black Adam character and wants him to go straight to the top (Superman) instead of fighting mid carders (Shazam)

I shouldn't crap on your post though, I've liked The Rock since before we ever knew him as Dwayne Johnson, and he's come a long way since fighting Seven of Nine on Voyager.

I'm really looking forward to the Black Adam movie because of the Justice Society but I have to be honest, the big spoiler-covered event... isn't all that thrilling to me.

Primarily because I'm not sanguine on setting up Black Adam vs Superman - it should always be Black Adam vs Captain Marvel (or Billy + the JSA) first. Unless this is setting up Adam beating Clark and Clark has to call Billy for help.

I'm very happy that Cavill's coming back as Clark in general, and hopefully Amy Adams will return as well.

Well the plan is they'll meet at some point: https://twitter.com/AjepArts/status/1580989482840772608

In the context of the current DC films, Shazam is an upper mid-carder and Superman is a jobber. But, with that in mind, Superman needs someone to help save the character on film, and Shazam doesn't need the help, so I'd be fine with Black Adam trying to restore a bit of Superman's film reputation before he clashes with his actual rival Shazam.

Then Stone Cold Steve Austin shows up out of nowhere and stuns them all

Yeah.... No. Shazam was a financial flop. Superman, not so much.

You've said this before. It isn't true. Shazam! was a financial success relative to its budget (considerably lower than most tentpole features). The trades all said so at the time of its release, and a sequel was greenlit almost immediately -- not a thing that happens with "financial flops."

They just see potential in it, since it was actually liked by the people that did see it, so they are hoping for an improvement with the sequel.

Shazam: $365,971,656 worldwide on a $100 million budget.
Man Of Steel: $668,045,518 worldwide on a $225,000,000.

So, Shazam proportionally did similar, but sold so much fewer tickets. It gets more complicated though. Man Of Steel probably lost more money than Shazam but made it up with bigger home media, merchandising, etc...

No way to look at this and say Shazam is the bigger character. The receipts are right there - he's a midcarder. Aquaman, WW, Superman, Batman all sold at least double the tickets. (Admittedly they all cost more as well)

EDIT: I forgot, SS $746,846,894, BOP: only $205,322,941 but that movie's gross is at least a little affected by the pandemic.

I wasn't comparing Shazam! to Superman or MoS (though I realize that was the context of your comment). Simply pointing out that calling the film a "financial flop" is BS.
