Barry Allen is the only flash.
Hall Jordan is the only green lantern.
There is no need to confuse things further.
LoL! You sound like me.Barry Allen is the only flash.
Hall Jordan is the only green lantern.
There is no need to confuse things further.
Blatantly false. They weren't even the first ones to have those titles. And even during Hal Jordan's reign in the Silver and Bronze Age, he was never the only Green Lantern, what with that whole GL Corps and all.
It's okay if you personally have these two favorites and don't care for any of the other ones. Most fans either have other favorites, or prefer multiple characters with those titles. And with Marvel having successfully introduced a second Spider-Man to the mainstream and made Sam Wilson the MCU's new Captain America (plus Jane Foster Thor in Gods & Thunder), I doubt the mainstream audience would bat an eye about multiple different Flashes and Green Lanterns.
Plus, DC League of Super-Pets already will introduce Jessica Cruz as Green Lantern to the mainstream audience, after a whole generation of people have grown up with John Stewart in the Justice League cartoon. So, that ship has already sailed.
"Pushing Green Lantern? The character has had one lackluster film, and they had an effective unnamed GL cameo in Justice league. <--- That's hardly and overabundance of GL on film.DC has really had the problem of Geoff Johns having too much influence. He loves Barry Allen and hal Jordan, so does everything he can to push those characters and suppress the other versions of Flash and GL. For a long time Wally and John Stewart were probably more popular versions of Flash and GL just from being the main animated versions, much less in the comics where John Stewart, Kyle and probably even Guy have as much if not more fan support as GL then Hal.
But, Hal and Barry get pushed over everyone else because of Johns and one or two other old guys at DC, and at this point Hal and barry have been pushed to the front for over a decade and have kind of forced Wally and John/the other GLs into obscurity among people too young to have watched the Justice League cartoon when it aired or read the 90s FLash and GL comics as they came out. That doesn't make Hal or Barry better characters unfortunately, it just lets DC justify using them as the main versions because "They're the ones mainstream audiences would know now".
It was very deliberate by Geoff Johns & Co., and his worship of those characters is almost as frustrating as Dan Didio's hatred of legacy characters including Wally and Nightwing, although with Johns I at least don't think he actually hates Wally/John Stewart/etc, he just likes Barry and Hal better. Even with Johns now kind of taking a back seat, the situation he set up at DC with Barry and Hal is still there, and its easier for DC to justify using the characters they have been pushing then to try to elevate other versions of GL and Flash, although hopefully they eventually realize that the wonder bread heroes have more interesting alternatives.
You have a funny definition of mainstream. Average Joe has no clue whatsoever who morales is, despite being in some cartoon.
Nobody even knows that super pets is coming out, that's going to be a big flop.

I think DC League of Super-Pets looks delightful, not least in its portrayal of Clark.I hope it is. I just find that whole super pets movie offensive.
All I want is a Man of Steel sequel and they give us this? Shameful.![]()
I didn't say in film specifically. Geoff Johns has pushed Hal jordan for years over all other lanterns. He brought Hal, and Barry, back to life in the comics and immediately shoved the other GL's (and Wally West) aside. When he got more involved with the non-comic side of things we started getting Hal and Barry in the roles of GL and Flash pretty much exclusively. Not that he's the only Hal Jordan/Barry Allen supporter, but he's been the one in the positions to make sure they get almost exclusive focus.
We almost got John Stewart as GL in the cancelled George Miller Justice League movie, probably because John was popular from the cartoon. But its been years and years of only Hal really getting a pushed, and a lot of that is from geoff Johns, to the point where Hal is now just default GL in the comics and mainstream.
I love Hal and Barry, but also love Wally, and I love John, Kyle and the rest of the GLC. For that matter, I love Jay and Alan. I do agree that it's a shame they've all suffered to some degree since Hal and Barry returned.
I am really not a fan of the Rebirth idea of Thawne killing Nora Allen. We have enough super-heroes with tragic pasts.
