DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

My bad. I started skimming when I realized the article itself wasn't about the movies. "Snyder" was one of the words I was looking for, but obviously missed that.

:o

As is typical of Bleeding Cool. that was a mess of an article. Scattered and unfocused. Like they were only printing answers and not questions. The Jurgens comment seems to come out of thin air.

It's actually just quoting some messages the guy posted on the Superman forum at CBR. So yeah, not really a proper article.

If he'd cast Zaldana, doesn't that mean she'd be unavailable for Guardians?
If you mean Gunn wouldn't have cast her, to my knowledge there's nothing actually preventing actors from appearing in both DC and Marvel films, though in practice it doesn't seem to happen much. (Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

If you mean filming conflicts, looking at the Wikipedia pages for the DCEU entries featuring Lois versus the GotG movies, there appears to be little production overlap, with the films almost trading off shooting schedules.

Djimon Hounsu (sp?) would like a word.

^ Yeah, as I said, it hasn't happened "much." I had the feeling there were one or two exceptions, which is why I don't know that playing Lois would necessarily have disqualified Saldana from also playing Gamora.

Are you talking about actors playing characters in both franchises at the same time or in their entire careers?

^ I'm talking about whatever Anwar was talking about in suggesting Saldana's playing Lois might have precluded her from playing Gamora.

True. It’s just that I saw Captain Marvel and Shazam about a week apart and he’s in both. Was amused that he’d be in those two movies specifically.

I doubt there's anything in their contracts that would prevent it, but I think both studios and actors themselves would be reluctant to take big roles and multi-picture deals from both studios at the same time because of potential scheduling conflicts.

I got horses in the back... oh great, now I got that in my head.
I am a father of a 14 year old and 8 year old....already stuck...

As the years go by, I have started to consider The Rock's Black Adam film to be in the same category as that Channing Tatum Gambit film, something that is always "almost definitely happening", but never gets made. I hope Black Adam does get made because I really enjoy The Rock's work, but at this point I'll believe it when shooting starts.
From watching Shazam...it really felt like that SHOULD have been Black Adam, and they just tweaked the story slightly to fit Sivana (I can imagine Black Adam coming back and seeing Shazam, then going to see Shazam's temple and getting what he needed).

The Rock has hyped this role for YEARS... just wondering if it was more DC FU Exec stupidity that pushed The ROck out of Shazam

A couple of random items of DCEU-related interest I've run across lately:

1. Zack Snyder revealed recently that Man of Steel's Lois Lane casting came down to Amy Adams or Zoe Saldana. I love Adams's Lois, but Saldana could definitely have worked also. And she would probably have brought a bit more overt aggressiveness to the character, for those who perceive Adams as too "soft."

I think Zoe should play Katma Tui in the Green Lantern Corps *AND* Komand'R in Teen Titans. (and she could do it... a couple other actors have done similar jumps)

^ I'd take Zoe in just about anything. Even my deep and abiding love for Adams's Lois couldn't prevent me from contemplating an alternate universe with Saldana in the part.

Some could barely handle Lois with red hair...

Which is pathetic, because it betrays their ignorance of the very first (and third) live-action portrayer of Lois, the redheaded Noel Neill.

Not to mention the double standard -- why don't they ever complain that the redheaded Jimmy Olsen has almost always been played by brown-haired or blond actors? (Not counting the complaints about Mehcad Brooks, because those were just racism disguised as purism, as proven by the fact that the "purists" didn't object to all the previous brunettes.)

I had always thought it was probably just that they were afraid he would overshadow the actors who played Shazam, and they wanted to make sure the focus was on them for the first movie.

Good point. I would've hated for the splendid Shazam! to have been turned into a star vehicle for The Rock.
