DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Marvel has more or less done the same. None of the comic book movies, regardless of the franchise, have been truly faithful to its comic book origins. And even the comic books themselves change the story lines every once in a while.

Steppenwolf as the main villain of "Suicide Squad"? God, what a dumb idea. It's a good thing David Ayer changed it. It just would not have worked, as far as I'm concerned. It would have ruined the theme of the movie's plot. And the Enchantress made a better contrast to Amanda Waller than Steppenwolf would have.

I agree that the Squad should not have fought him as the main villain but It would have been nice to see Steppenwolf manipulating things toward a goal.

Why? I really don't see how he would have been necessary to the plot. Nor can I see someone as arrogant as the Enchantress willing to be manipulated or controlled . . . even by someone as powerful as Steppenwolf.

Steppenwolf was the biggest joke of a villain to be seen in comic book films this entire generation. Suicide Squad had its issues, but in this regard it dodged a bullet. No way would adding Steppenwolf to that movie have improved it in the slightest.

Steppenwolf in SS would have been interesting, if nothing else it would have been a nice set up for JL.

I think JL could have used more Darkseid.

Why does everyone always assume Amazons were Greek? In the myths, they were the enemies of the Greeks, an exemplar of the barbarians from distant lands whose cultures and values were alien and anathema to Greek ways. They were probably based on horse nomads from Asia Minor such as the Scythians.

DC's Amazons are Greek. They speak Greek, worship the Greek Gods and have Greek clothing and architecture. The picture in question is of DC's premier Amazon, so she's Greek.

Yes, and that annoys me, because it's completely missing the point of the Amazons of myth, which was to be emphatically anti-Greek (or at least anathema to Athenian gender values).
Ok. But adaptations are not beholden to slavish adherence to source material (seems I've read something about that around here before--wonder who wrote it?) ;)

More germane to the adaptation here, though, is that it is an adaptation of the DC source, and thus rather faithful, in the end.
