There is no problem apart from fans gatekeeping "their" franchise. Actors will jump on any role they want to play, no matter which universe it is. All "rivalry" is just tongue in cheek friendly ribbing or marketing to drum up interest and headlines.

Hell, DC and Marvel have collaborated in the past and made many cross over comics. It's just business and personal preference which you find better.

And many creators have worked for both -- Jack Kirby, Marv Wolfman, Frank Miller, John Byrne, Gerry Conway, you name it. They've been cross-pollinating for generations.

I completely misread that.... I had woken up 15 minutes earlier and had only just started my coffee....

I deeply apologise and that's absolutely my fault.

You mean DCU, and again, Rooker would be the only exception; he's such a versatile actor who brought the value of many of his films up / made them memorable.

I'm surprised they both lasted as long as they did. As much as I liked Doom Patrol, it is a niche audience show--and Titans, while fun to watch, was always uneven and never really showed the full potential of its characters.

Totally saw that coming, hopefully HBO actually shows the back half of the remaining seasons.

Doom Patrol's first two seasons were amazing, inspired lunacy, though I felt season 3 lost a step and didn't quite come together. Titans was always flawed but had its moments, yet I thought season 3 was terrible and stupidly written. (It wasn't even really a Titans show anymore, just another of the slew of Batman-without-Batman shows.) I haven't seen season 4 of either yet.

I never understood why Titans insisted on being so dark and gritty and violent. I mean, the classic Teen Titans comics weren't like that; while they were noted for the maturity and seriousness they brought to the DC Universe, they had their share of fun and positivity. And a lot of people today surely grew up watching the original Cartoon Network Teen Titans series, which was generally quite zany and goofy, leavened with moments of surprising drama and depth. So I don't get why this show had to be so self-consciously dark and grim. It's quite a mismatch.

Doom Patrol has seemed rather rudderless for the last two seasons.

And if you don't care because apparently that universe is ending, may I remind you that Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are in this.

I don't really like the "Team Shazam" idea but it has me interested and I didn't really care for the first one.

Powers and gods and wars always has a certain appeal to me.

Looks good but not all that interesting. I miss the lighter tone of the first film. This feels closer to Black Adam.
Anyway, will probably see it opening night.

It's been a thing since the 40's, so seeing it on the big screen like that was a hoot.
    I'm excited for the movie!

Except they can't actually use the team members' names since they don't use the "Marvel" names anymore.

Yeah, I get it, but it still does sound weird to me to not call them The Marvel Family.
