I'm surprised they both lasted as long as they did. As much as I liked Doom Patrol, it is a niche audience show--and Titans, while fun to watch, was always uneven and never really showed the full potential of its characters.
Doom Patrol's first two seasons were amazing, inspired lunacy, though I felt season 3 lost a step and didn't quite come together. Titans was always flawed but had its moments, yet I thought season 3 was terrible and stupidly written. (It wasn't even really a Titans show anymore, just another of the slew of Batman-without-Batman shows.) I haven't seen season 4 of either yet. I never understood why Titans insisted on being so dark and gritty and violent. I mean, the classic Teen Titans comics weren't like that; while they were noted for the maturity and seriousness they brought to the DC Universe, they had their share of fun and positivity. And a lot of people today surely grew up watching the original Cartoon Network Teen Titans series, which was generally quite zany and goofy, leavened with moments of surprising drama and depth. So I don't get why this show had to be so self-consciously dark and grim. It's quite a mismatch.

I don't really like the "Team Shazam" idea but it has me interested and I didn't really care for the first one.

Looks good but not all that interesting. I miss the lighter tone of the first film. This feels closer to Black Adam. Anyway, will probably see it opening night.
