DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

It's not a movie?
? Sorry Eddy, I'm not sure what you're asking? Yes it's a movie and it's still available on Canada's source for WB/HBO content. But since Discovery has discovery+ here (there is no HBO Max) I wouldn't count on it still being available once the contract with Bell expires/if WB ends it

Ok, I get what you're saying now.

HBO content is available on Crave with an HBO+ add on for a hefty price tag. If Crave lost HBO content, it would be a big blow to their service.

No added price anymore. All of HBO is included in the base price and has been for a couple years at this point. It's Starz that's an add on.

With everything else being discussed it's not surprising this has slipped under the radar. WB is also looking to overhaul the DC movie administration, replacing the current people in charge with a new mandate to focus on Superman, and using Phillips "Joker" and "Harley Quinn" as examples of successfull side characters growing the brand. Also, we have a number behind the cuts - they're looking to slash $3 Billion in costs

I pay annually and renew automatically so I didn't realize that--but, in effect, that just means the base price includes the fee for HBO with the service being just under 20bucks a month. I am going to guess that HBO is going to continue to produce the same quantity and quality of programming as it always has prior to Max--if not Crave doesn't have enough going for it to justify the price tag for me.

It's way down in this long article, which gives a far more realistic description of the 'Batgirl' test screening than simply "WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!" but Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 could both be getting delayed.

This is the bit that stands out to me:

As soon as Batgirl was shelved, a number of tweets circulated asking the studio to save Blue Beetle. Among those who liked those tweets? Angel Manuel Soto, the film’s director, underscoring the uncertainty Warners talent faces at this time.

If HBO Max goes away, and HBO Now (the streaming service) doesn't return, no way will HBO be able to keep its current budget from just cable.

Agreed, HBO (and WB movies) is the major reason Crave has value. Otherwise it's a one month a year service for Letterkenny, Shoresy, and Star Trek.

But Bell may not have a say in it. Who knows what this new ownership at WB will do.

I just feel it is a MASSIVE misread by Zaslav. He's screwing around with DC fans.... the same guys who bullied a major studio (with help from the director and a lot of twitter bots) into finishing the Snyder Cut. Why intentionally piss them off? It's putting short term money over your long term customers.

Problem is the Snyder cult are convinced that these moves are the precursors to bringing back their Lord Snyder, so they are actually celebrating. Total QAnon style thinking lol, cults gonna cult I guess.

That was more about the studio's desire to generate new content for HBO Max during a time when the pandemic had shut down new production. Fan campaigns generally only pay off when a studio or network has its own monetary reasons for doing what the fans want, or sometimes if the decision-makers are themselves fans willing to gamble on something they love (e.g. NBC head Brandon Tartikoff going to bat for Quantum Leap despite its ratings). In this case, it sounds like the new owners have a pretty inflexible financial motive for keeping the movie dead. And as wayoung said, they seem like the kind of corporate vultures who buy out a company and gut it to make a quick profit, caring about nothing else.
