DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

It's CBR. They never just post the info they have, they break it up into morsels so that they can generate multiple "articles" from it.

Yeah, ever since they went corporate, unfortunately. In hindsight, I should have linked to the NYT article, but for some reason I had the notion it was under a paywall and neglected to actually check.

And for the record, CBR did do a seperate article on the Snyder spin-offs, even with a correct headline that they aren't part of the plans, not that they are definitely not happening. I imagine they will wait on how fans react to the JL cut.

CBR's second article is full of speculative musings casually discussed as if they're facts, which greatly diminishes its integrity as a piece of news.

It also ignores several key facts that have already been discussed here repeatedly with regards to the future of the DCEU continuity into which Snyder's Justice League fits narratively.

Even if "Zack Snyder's Justice League" is indeed a 'street that leads nowhere', the continuity that spawned it has not ended and is not slated to end any time soon, meaning that the narrative choices his version of Justice League makes will continue to influence parts of DC and Warner Bros.'s filmic output even if he doesn't get an opportunity to directly follow up on those choices in the specific ways he's talked about online.

So would endlessly quoting PR statements by producers, since they frequently contradict themselves with what they eventually do.*

*Not occasionally. Frequently. Press conferences are spin. There are people here who need to learn that.

Yep - It's akin to the Star Wars situation:

IE - Disney: "Star Wars feature films are dead..."

https://variety.com/2020/film/news/star-wars-mandalorian-spinoff-shows-1203493030/
The future of “Star Wars,” the space opera saga that Disney bought the rights to in 2012 when it purchased Lucasfilm for $4 billion, will be on the small screen. The release of “The Rise of Skywalker” last December ended the nine-film series about the Skywalker clan. It also led Disney to, Iger said, “take a bit of a hiatus in terms of theatrical releases.” The company believed it had over-saturated the market for “Star Wars” sequels and spinoffs — “The Rise of Skywalker” was the lowest grossing of the three most recent installments and 2018’s “Solo” lost money.

So, they switch to TV and "The Mandalorian" - VERY popular, and Star Wars spinoff series galore including a series called "Rogue Squadron"...which will ALSO now be a Star Wars feature film to be released in theatres:

Patty Jenkins will direct a new “Star Wars” movie, titled “Rogue Squadron,” it was announced during Thursday’s Disney Investor conference.

It’s slated for Christmas 2023, and is set to follow pilots across the “Star Wars” universe.

Yep - Hollywood changes it's mind all the time -- all that matters is if they think they can make big bucks.

The DCEU moratorium could switch gears just as fast if they see a trend and get a project that they think will make big box office.

I don't think they necessarily changed their minds when it comes to Star Wars, all they said was that they were taking a break from the movies. At the time, people theorized that it would be 3 or 4 years before we got another movie, and since we'll have 4 years between The Rise of Skywalker's release in December 2019 and Rogue Squadron's in December 2023 that was exactly what we got.

Yes, Disney never said that they were not going to produce feature films for the big screen--only that following Solo and Rise that they were taking a break and slowing down their plans. Remember they originally were going to have a film a year. Once Solo and Rise under performed and Disney plus was a firm go they changed their minds. Although several of the previously planned film concepts are now scheduled for the streaming service--at no point did Disney say there would be no more films.

Well, I'm glad they ended up switching gears. TV shows give the stories and characters more room to breathe, and Star Wars movies should be something special.

I've enjoyed The Adventures of Mando, but the second season was a little too much about setting up the various upcoming series. I still enjoyed it, just not as much as the first season.

I am glad we're getting limited and ongoing series and I agree they help flesh out the universe. I am hoping that we have things that are not connected to the Skywalkers in any way. Lucas original idea, back when the first movie was the chronicles of Luke Skywalker was to use the setting to tell different tales unrelated to the original movie, with different styles and settings. (Source-1977 Rolling Stone interview) It is really interesting that under Disney, this is what we are getting.

And getting back to DC--this is my hope for the upcoming DC movies as well.

Really, there was one way they could have followed the MCU model.

Have there be standalone anthology movies that get made, and then when they have the character established and want to bring them together with the old ones THEN they do "Episode 7".

The "Episodes" basically being the SW Analogue to the Avengers team-up movies where there's the bigger plot and the rest being more standalone stuff. A "Star Wars Story" rather than each one being "The Big next Episode".

So I wonder if they'll recast or just not have Cyborg in any more DCEU stuff. We've already got the character in Doom Patrol, and honestly it seems like anything they tried to do in the movies would end up just repeating what the show's done, so I'm fine with them just leaving the character out of the movies.

It’s very telling that most of Fisher’s Twitter posts are after news is released from Warner Bros. Specifically when there is no mention of future work for him. Or any comment which is perceived as a slight against his buddy Snyder.

The article does not say that comment about Snyder having no future with WB came from Hamada. Yet he goes in to attack mode.

There are two separate issues here. His experience doing the reshoots on JL. Which Hamada was not involved. So clearly the real issue - regardless of his claims of not caring about a film career, is him expecting a solo film. So he goes after the guy who he expects to green light it.

Fisher's credibility, which was never great, is declining Tweet by Tweet...

Fisher's issues with Hamada appear to stem from Hamada not throwing Geoff Johns under a bus when Fisher believes that Johns had a role in what he (Fisher) claims was his mistreatment on the Justice League set.

Yeah, even though something apparently did happen during production of Justice League the way Fisher has gone about all of this has not helped his image.
