DC launching digital service with Titans and Young Justice

Right. Even if you watch only one episode a week, that's maybe $12-18 dollars for a whole season of content, maybe 10-15 episodes -- versus maybe $8-15 for a 2-hour movie in a theater. So it's a better bargain than going out to a movie.

Plus the DC service also includes digital comics as well as a wide selection of TV shows, so that adds more value.
Didn't you just recently complain about possibly having to cut back channels in order to save money? What changed?

By the way, I've been thinking about dropping some channels from my cable service to save money, and I'm looking into online alternatives to channels like Syfy, Freeform, FX, etc. The Syfy website includes my cable system as one of its allowed providers, but I still can't get the videos to play on either Chrome or Firefox for some reason. Where else are the shows available? If they're on Hulu, say, then I could probably re-subscribe to that more cheaply than what I pay for those channels on cable.

I'm waiting to hear more about the Disney streaming service before I decide on this one. I might do one more streaming service, but probably not two, so it'll pretty much come down to price, and which has the more interesting material at launch.

I've had the thought that maybe the best approach is to cycle through subscriptions to the various services one after the other. Like, subscribe to one for a month or two until you've caught up with its shows for that season, then drop it and subscribe to the next one until you catch up with it, and so on. A bit complicated to keep track of, but less expensive than keeping them all at once.

Hmm. The looks are okay, I guess, but it's odd that Robin's the only one in a real superhero costume. And I still think Starfire's hair is too garishly colored. It's supposed to be more auburn, I'd say, not hot pink.

Knowing I can just do a yearly subscription does make me a lot more interested in this one.

And another live action show announced for DCU:

Stargirl!

Geoff Johns wil be writing and producing along, you guessed it, Greg Berlanti. :D

And apparently Stargirl will skew younger and take a lighter tone than the TV-MA Titans. Good to have that variety. I wonder, will it share a universe with the other DCU shows, or stand apart? It's possible to have shows of very different tones and age levels in the same continuity, at least nominally -- see Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures sharing the Doctor Who universe (although they pretty much ignored each other except in crossovers on DW).

Stargirl?!?!

Grr... I wish there was a way to just pay for the new shows. I really don't care about the comics side or even the older shows that much. But for Young Justice and Stargirl and maybe Titans and Doom Patrol...

8 bucks a month for four shows doesn't sound that bad. It's near or below the typical cost of one movie a month. And if you go for the 1-year package, that's only $6.25 a month.

The trailer for Titans does ZERO for me..."Fuck, Batman"?
I have to admit, I'm MUCH more interested in the comics side. If it's like the Marvel Unlimited, I could be very interested.

He should. He created her, after all.

Eh, honestly its no guarantee. He can go from being one of the greatest writers of a character (like in his pre-reboot Green Lantern run writing Hal Jordan) to extremely mediocre to terrible writing the same character. His writing skills really haven't shown themselves in awhile in my opinion, so just because he created her doesn't mean he can still write her well. I hope he does, but I won't be that surprised if the show isn't very good.

But, bare minimum, he will write her better then the so called "Stargirl" in Legends of Tomorrow. Unless he goes with the "stabbing people with her staff" thing, it is almost impossible to write her worse then the LoT version.

Oh dear. Someone really doesn’t know their Dick.

He acts more like Jason Todd than Richard Grayson.

I thought the trailer for Titans was really good and can't wait til it premieres, but this newly announced Stargirl project has me extremely excited because it's essentially an Infinity Inc. series without that name attached, and with Courtney in the lead, which sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.
