DC Comics: Rebirth

For me, it is the idea of paying the same price for a digital comic that I would for the physical product. I set a money limit per month, which was fine for DC titles when they were released monthly. Now IDW and Image (perhaps others) with just see more of that business from me than they did before. I'm not really angry, just a little miffed that DC decided on this policy. At least Marvel, for example, has their unlimited option for reading comics six months late (or something similar) which is about the same as waiting for the trades.

I'm not enjoying any of DC's titles.

Maybe I'd meet a noticeable level of enjoyment if they reduced all their prices by a buck fiddy?

All Star Batman #1 was great! I usually don't find Two-Face interesting because he's just a guy with no powers, but this is a really interesting story.

I'm so torn on this, Snyder is fantastic but John Romita Jr is literally at the very bottom of the list of artists I want on any book I'm reading (and he keeps getting the high profile stuff, to boot!)

So here's my problem with the new Superwoman comic...

She's dead. It's Lois Lane, native to The New 52, seemed awesome, and they killed her. Fuck? Huh? Fuck! Don't worry there's at least two more. ####ing misdirective A-holes. Just not Lois, and not in that ridiculously tight costume.

I love JRJR art!!! Except when it's rushed and blocky. Which, admittedly seems to happen a lot lately. But this was good art.

JRJR FOREVER!

I don't know if he's been stretched too thin over multiple projects or what, but he's gotten lazy. This was really obvious on his Superman run when he just stopped drawing the details on the costume and on the S. I'm sure his defenders will say he was trying to do an homage to Curt Swan and the seventies or something but IMO it was just lazy by modern standards.

The even issue Wonder Woman plotline better than the odd one so far.
Is that the flashback or modern story?

What is the relationship between the Harley Quinn and Suicide Squad comics?
I have the first collection of both New 52 series, and in SS she's locked up in Belle Reve, but her solo series she's free. I've only flipped through them, so if there is an explanation in dialogue I haven't read it yet.

I'm amazed how innocent we were in 2010.

So DC changed the title of the up-coming Hawkman/Adam Strange mini-series to "Death of Hawkman".

Anyway, I'm really into all new DC titles I've been reading so far (Action, Superman, GA, WW, JL, Superwoman, Supergirl, Hal Jordan and the GL Corps, Titans), except for one: New Super-Man. I liked the premise of a Chinese Superman, but two issues in, it feels like every character in this book is a jerk. Especially the main character. I'm gonna read the third issue, and if it doesn't get better, I'll drop the title in favor of one of the other books.

New Super-Man and Green Arrow are, thus far, the only books i don't care for.

Chinese Batman and Chinese Wonder Woman are pretty cool.

Chinese Doomsday should take care of this punk for us and rename the title "China's Finest" (holy shit) or "Fine China" so it's just those two being awesome every month.

Well, considering the fact that New 52 Hawkman's story is more confusing then Hawkman's backstory ever was during the time DC apparently considered the character an unusable mess, I won't miss this version when/if he dies. Maybe after he dies DC can "Rebirth" a real Carter Hall or Katar Hol for the DCU.

As for DC Rebirth, so far I'm enjoying:

Action Comics
Aquaman
Batman
Detective Comics
The Flash
Green Lanterns
Suicide Squad
Superman
Titans
Wonder Woman

I'm also reading Hal Jordan & The GL Corps and Justice League, but both are kind of poor. I have the feeling that JL could be good, its just having a bad story arc. GL Corps is something I might drop if it doesn't get better soon. I also plan to try Supergirl: rebirth, I just haven't gotten around to it yet, and I'm hoping Teen Titans Rebirth is good.

I'm also enjoying Earth 2 Society since it changed writers around issue #10. This is more ongoing DC books then I've read at once since August 2011. I'd say Rebirth, even with a few lame/bad books, is a big success.

There's some stuff I'd still like to see happen:

- Legion of Super-Heroes Rebirth
- Martian Manhunter Rebirth
- Lobo Rebirth

Legion, at least, was hinted at in the Rebirth one-shot by Geoff Johns. And I do appreciate that they might want to stretch the Rebirth thing out a little, so we might see these (and other) titles later on.

While we're at it, I'd like a continuation of Keith Giffen's Sugar & Spike series from the LoT-anthology book, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I also really want the Legion back. But, not as a Rebirth. I want the same Legion we've had since The Lightning Saga/Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds all the way through the New 52 (aka the original Legion of Superheroes from before the 80s 5 Years Later story), not Legion Reboot #4 (or 5 I guess, if you count the 5 years later legion as a reboot). If they reboot the Legion again, I probably won't even bother (and I LOVE the Legion of Superheroes)
