Apparently, DC is planning to put up an actual Daily Planet website that treats events in the DCU as actual news.

This used to be Comixology. You can still reach it by going to comixology.com but the format really sucks now. It is incredibly difficult to browse digital comics because you keep getting sent back to the "non-kindle" items or other kindle items that are not comics.
That said, here is the link to the current "deals" page:

https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/comics-store/sales/?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=sv_kstore_cmx_2
The Comixology app is totally separate from the Kindle app now, so I only use that.
The one big thing that I absolutely hate with the new version is that there is no way to just browse by publisher, or writer, or genre, there's just their lists. I stumbled across a lot of really interesting looking series by just browsing like that through the old app.

The app remains separate but all my purchases go into both apps and I cannot find a way to stop it.

I am thinking that the problem may be region based.
Could be. But my two accounts are US based (was no Kindle on Amazon Canada when I started and I never switched—too much risk I’d lose some academic titles because of different publishing rights). But something to look into.

My account is the same way. I started using Comixology when I was living in Central America because it was available internationally. Now, you need to use Amazon US to use Comixology, and I think for some reason it is including comics on Kindles outside of the US.

Yeah, mine does that too, but I just make sure I only download them on one account.

Finally managed to get the Batman Road to No Man's Land omnibus for a reasonable price this week so ordered vol.1 & 2 of No Mançs Land as well, get them all ordered before something else goes out of print. I've read a bit of No Man's Land before but not the entire event or the prelude so I'm looking forward to getting into them.

Seems Power Girl and Fire & Ice are getting new books in September:

I've been rather fond of Ice ever since her endearing crush on Superman back in the "Death of Superman" era, and it's cool that her and Fire's book is set in Smallville, reinforcing the Superman connection. I've never been a huge Power Girl fan, but I've always kind of wanted to be, and I'll check her book out to see if she can win me over this time. (At least her current costume is an improvement.)

ETA: It appears the F&I book is just a six-issue mini (dunno about PG):

The PG back up in Action, the bit I could stomach reading, was awful, and I'm pretty sure the new book is from the same team, so that's a definite pass. I didn't actually think someone could write her worse then in One Star Squadron, but making her extremely generic, and basically just Supergirl with a different haircut did it. At least its still not as bad as her New 52 World's Finest Portrayal :barf2:.

Also, huge disagree about Power Girl's costume. Her "Classic" Post Crisis costume from JSA/etc until the New 52 is the best in my opinion, followed by her Pre-Crisis Earth 2 costume, her yellow JLE costume, her New 52 Earth 2 Costume, her atlantean costume and finally that new costume, which gets stuck at the end because (besides the jacket just looking stupid) the Superman logo takes away literally everything that makes Power Girl unique, she's just adult Supergirl at this point.

The design I think of as the Power Girl "default" is one of the more hideous superhero costumes I've ever seen, so practically anything would be an improvement.

And I don't know or care enough about the character to quibble about the "S." In fact, the Superman connection is the only reason I'm interested in her at all, so reinforcing that can only be a plus for me.

But it's obvious you have more knowledge of and greater investment in the character than I do, so your opinion probably trumps mine.

July solicits are out and apparently there is a summer event that runs across a lot of titles. Of course, the events mini-series and main story is a Batman story--but I am wondering if it is interrupting all the books that have the tie-ins which are all labeled as #1 (of 2 I presume)?

I knew I forgot something this month. July solicits have been out for a while.

Well, Superman, Action Comics, The Flash, etc. are all interrupted for July (and I guess August, as well) for their Knight Terror tie-in mini-series counterparts. Presumably, they'll resume with the regular stories and numbering in September, once the crossover has ended. I've decided to get the main event mini-series and the books where I already had the regular series in my monthly pull list.

There are a few non-Knight Terror books in July, though. Hawkgirl gets a 6-issue mini-series, as does Mark Waid's World's Finest spin-off on the early days of the Teen Titans.
And speaking of the Teen Titans, there's a new Tales of the Titans series featuring stories focussing on individual members of the Titans, with the first issue taking on Starfire.
Jon Kent, Steelworks, JSA and other mini-series and newer titles in progress also aren't tied into the crossover.
And there's a new 3-issue Black Label prestige Superman mini-series by Mark Waid and Bryan Hitch, so that's a highlight of the month for me.
Also, a facsimile edition of the first appearance of the Doom Patrol.
I would be interested in that Batman Adventures Omnibus, if it wasn't so omnibussy expensive.

Anybody else read The Dark Knights of Steel? I just picked up the digital version of Volume 1 off Hoopla this morning. I only read the first few pages, but it seems pretty good so far.

I'm trade-waiting (the first volume is already out, the second and final is due in December). Definitely interested from what I've heard, though. And if nothing else, the series gave us this gorgeous variant cover of Kara:
