DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

A low-quality first look at Milly Alcock in costume as Supergirl:

Looks very similar to her suit in the graphic novel, complete with skirt, wide gold belt, and tall red boots.

Not quite sure what her cape is doing, though. There’s a patch of red on her back, but it’s not hanging down to cover the belt. In any case, I’m delighted that the costume appears so faithful to the book, though it looks less and less like the story will be. In addition to shoehorning Lobo in, that tank-looking object she’s standing on is also not a thing in the graphic novel, that I can recall.

Big thumbs up for accurate costumes! If they're filming an action scene it could be that the cape is being added later with CGI, especially if the actor's rigged to fly. The red fabric could be there so they don't have to mess around compositing it under the hair. Or maybe the cape's just gotten a bit twisted up, I dunno.

From the video, it looks like they're just setting things up before filming begins. So I'd guess the actress (if that's her and not her stunt double) just has her cape tucked into the belt to keep it out of the way, and will untuck it before the camera rolls.

Well, I’d prefer something more traditional myself, but I assumed we’d get one that was consistent with Corenswet’s. At least the shield’s nice and big. And the suit’s colors look pleasingly bright overall.

It really reminds me of the Slater SG costume.
Can’t really do better than that. Certainly no live-action Supergirl costume has ever looked as good.

And yeah, this design is not too far removed from that, given how much it appears to conform to the source comic. Higher boots and a wider belt would be among the noticeable differences. I imagine the material may be heavier than Slater’s, too, and they will probably feel the need to apply some kind of unnecessary texturing, in the modern manner.

I'm liking everything I'm seeing so far. I wonder if Lobo's motorcycle also flies through space?
