My partner and I talk about this off and on, and I wanted to get more input.

She's a bit artsy, and I'm more of a down-to-Earth kind of person. I realize that she wanders off in her head a lot more than I do. I find myself asking her, "Where did you go?" or "Was the trip nice?" a lot when we're at home or in the car.

I told her one day that I thought she might daydream too much. She says I don't daydream enough.

I daydream maybe once a day. Normally, it's at night as I'm drifting off to sleep. She daydreams, as far as I can tell from her 'light-is-on-nobody's-home' expression at least four times a day.

So, how often do you daydream? What do you think is healthy? Care to share what you daydream about?

Personally, think you all probably know what I daydream about.

Badgers. There must be an option for badgers....

I prolly daydream between five and ten times a day on average. Oftentimes while I'm doing menial chores or am in the car by myself.

I'll think about how to vote but I'm pretty much in a constant day dream, it just moves to the back of my mind when I'm concentrating on something, but it's always there and I'll go back to it in between writing sentences of a post, while waiting for the kettle to boil, while waiting for my turn playing Disney Princess Yahtzee with the kids...

I can't say whether I dream too much, because if I didn't dream I wouldn't be me - it's as natural and necessary as breathing.

I daydream a lot. It often leads to strange and wonderful places.

One time l was daydreaming about the man in my life.
Until my boss interrupted my dream with a very funny look.

I daydream so much of the time I've lost track of how often, so I picked squirrel.

Depends on the day, really. I said less than 10, but I think it's hard to tell. I'm pretty in a constant daydream.

Rarely. If I'm doing a routine task at work that doesn't require any brain energy I might daydream, but I wouldn't really call it daydreaming I suppose...more just, planning out things for the rest of the day or making lists in my head of things that need to get done. I would say the real daydreams only come around about once a week for a few minutes.

I daydream a lot. I try to keep it from affecting my productivity, but I do have a very active imagination.

I am also one of those, who daydreams a lot. I don´t find it unhealthy, its somehow part of my personality..though sometimes other people tell me to stop dreaming so much. *shrug*

About what do I daydream? That is very different. Well sometimes about the interest I just have in mind at that time...so right now you may find Cardassians...last year you found Hobbits. ;) However also about a lot other stuff... like how it would be to fly away from earth and what there could be ouside, or I see people growing younger or older and becoming dust in front of my eyes, and not just people, also plants and everything, my mind just either lets things run backwards or forward faster .. and I have to say I am also good with ...uhm...daymares (is that a word? Probably not..oh well...). Means like when I walk on the street and there are cars around, I have all the unpleasent accidents that might happen in my head, detailed and bloody and painful...like one time I waited at a main street till I could cross it and a person stood so near behind me, that I felt nearly threatend and I couldn´t stop myself and imaged, that person might get into the mood to push me on the street, just when that big truck arrives here, that I see in the distance and than... well details.
Sometimes I daydraem at times were I should not, visibel than for example that in my writing words come douple or are written only half.
I can also sit for hours and let my mind wander far away, timeless.... though I guess daydreaming might be one reason why I am never on time getting somewhere....well or seldomly and than mostly in a hurry or why I suddenly wonder, where I am...like walking too far, while I would have been there 5 minutes ago, just had my mind wander and walked past where I wanted to go....

You should have made this a public poll, I want to see who's as in the clouds as I am :D

I am. :) I'm the same as you in that I never stop daydreaming, but just push the daydream to the back of my mind when I need to concentrate on something. I can't remember not daydreaming and it actually interferes with my falling asleep, so I've had life-long insomnia. However I'm hardly ever so engrossed in my daydreams that I can't instantly snap to attention if someone speaks to me.

Being a writer, artist et cetera, I am in a constant state of daydream. I hate it when responsibilities force me to concentrate on something mundane.

I don't day dream at all.

Likewise, I don't dream at night very often either. That could be faltering memory as well, though.

I'm working in some boring engineering plant now but I have had a very mixed career. I've a lot of science background but I sculpted, have wrote, done some painting and played music with a couple of bands, some day I hope to make my own short film or write a comicbook one day or do an animated piece with music...mind starting to wander already....let's just say I daydream A LOT
